Guys, I agree with you all that OP should not have snooped around in her husband's phone and read his text messages. BUT..... if a guy has been engaged for only 2 days, how can you start joking about it? My husband and I have only just started making jokes about being 'stuck' with each other and whatever, and that's after 1.5 years of marriage. I just think it's too delicate and formal a time to be making jokes, right in the beginning of engagement.

And how can you compare me to Nadz OP - yeah I don't like my MIL... but I don't think she's as bad as Nadz!!!

It's just a joke. Guys are not going to go all sentimental on their friends/brothers just because they got married/engaged. It just isn't happening. The day after our nikkah, at a family dawat, a cousin of mine asked hubby how it was to be married and his response was "I don't know bro, wondering if I can still return her" and I was standing right next to him. He got a 'punch' and we had a good laugh :)

Agreed, people always joke about marriage on the wedding day itself in speeches even. Love or arranged it doesn't matter and nothing to be so hurt over. My brother said something similar to my husband on the wedding day, something about him knowing where all the exits are incase he wanted to make a run for it..

A joke is a joke and guys don't express romantic thoughts with each other, they joke around.

^^ Yeah this is what I thought - it might be different for men cus I guess that's how they socialise with each other: by cussing each other lol!!

I read something funny on FB the other day: men socialise by insulting each other but they don't really mean it; women socialise by complimenting each other but they don't really mean it!

I guess you guys are right in your view but let me tell you the full angle and why I think this.. M not snooping around my hubby, just saw this convo nor m I trying to cause drama!

My sister is deaf but she wears hearing aid and is doing Bsc in a very prestigious university! She's very hard working and honest girl! She's a fighter and is working hard to overcome learning difficulties! Now my hubby often tries to fill my cousin ears against her like why are you marrying her? She speaks like this by imitating her.. (speaks normally).. You are so handsome you can get so many good girls! My sister is so pretty! And stuff like that he makes fun of her.. That's not all, he makes fun of my parents too..

My husband himself has two special brothers, where one is physically and mentally handicapped and disabled. Whilst his elder brother mentally delayed. Both brothers are at home and ofcourse unmarried.. I have never made fun of them. What right does he have to do this? I know this bcz my cousin hurt told this to my sister who later told me.. I m embarrassed n mortified by his behaviour!

Its really sad ... your husband doesn't respect you. No body laughs on a person for being disabled anymore, let alone if they are related to them. Which world is he living in srsly?

Ur husband is behaving really wierd if he's doing all those things. Btw why is he in so much contact with ur cousin to the point of kaan bharofying. And since he's married to u shouldn't he be on ur side and happy that ur sisters marrying a guy who's such a catch? Why is he making it sound like he's the cousins best friend and trying to talk him out of a relationship that he might possibly be really happy about. There's something fishy here, doesn't add up.

Your original post gave no indication of any of this. Why would you purposely leave out such details to your story? You've now made it a completely different scenario and the past 3 pages of replies are basically useless

How insensitive and disrespectful and not to mention immature your husband is. Considering he has two brothers like this, thats so sad.. now I do understand where your coming from..
