Duggii is a kind Naqqaarah [drum] which was used by 'town criers' in olden days in India.

gaaoN meN koii sarkaarii ai'aan karvaanaa hotaa to teHseeldaar "Duggi piTvaataa" thaa ya'nii ek shaKhs [jo is kaam ke liye mustasna huaa kartaa thaa] gaaoN kii galiyoN meN jaataa aur Duggii peeT kar ai'laan-e-'aam kartaa...

it was kinda public paging system.

DugDugii nannhii munnii sii hotii hai jo bandar/bandariyaa ko nachaane ke kaam aatii hai jab k Duggii naqqaarah kii taraH [large Drum but way smaller than a DHOL] hotii hai aur iskii aawaaz door door tak jaatii hai. DugDugii kii aawaaz ziyaada door tak nahiiN jaatii :slight_smile:
