What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

What **does **the Pakistani millitary to have be proud of?. I am not talking anout tanks, guns and ammunition, air-crafts, and submarines(even then Pakistan’s arsenal isnt that snappy at all).

By what the world thinks, Pakistan has lost every single war with India. Pakistans millitary strategies have always been very stupid and never though of all the consequences. Ill give you an example:
The 1971 war. When Pakistan established an offensive in Kashmir, Pakistani millitary stargetists assumed that the war front was going to stay in Kahsmir. But they were wrong, India launched an offense from the Wagha border.

Also, In Pakistan, the millitary is shown is some kind of very high, superiror force. They have ‘satya nyased’ Pakistan.

Zia-ul-Haq took away so many reforms and extablished very strict Islamic laws.

Now im not toally against the millitary. I think Musharraf psuhed some reforms towards making Pakistan a more secular country.

So do you think the millitary is all great and glory as their shown?

"Zia-ul-Haq took away so many reforms and extablished very strict Islamic laws"

Best thing that happened to an army of bunch of drunken cowards a la Niazi......

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

Pakistan may not have won outright, but I dont think they lost either. The fact that they performed relatively well given the circumstances is something to be proud of. India, despite its size was never able to defeat Pakistan outright. 1971 was an exception but it wasnt due to India's military might, but the circumstances that were involved, which sealed Pakistans fate.

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

  1. Pakistan forces [SSG] helped to secure the 'release' of the holy kabah in mecca when taken over by that chap who said he was the mehdi.

  2. Pakistan forces prevented palistinian rebles over throwing the Jordanian kingdom [during the rule of Zia]. The palis attacked and tried to take over the country. Zia who was in jordan at the time [as was a considerable force from the pakistani armed forces] took control of the pak forces and parts of the jordanian army to recover the kingdom back to normality. Bet ya dont read that in the history books.

  3. Pakistani forces for a long long time [and may still do] protected the saudi royal familily - though you may not like the royals it did mean for that time the country thus the holy sites didnt fall apart between civil war. You decied which is better.

  4. Pakistani forces supported/trained afgan mujhadeen. regardless of what they became [taliban] they where trained by pakistan - with the support of CIA - and beat the USSR [a supa pover]

  5. Pakistani forces have been on numerious UN peacekeeping missions and are one of the most sort after troops [after bangadesh - which has the best UN peacekeeping reputation].

  6. Pakistan has held back india for over 50 years...in our own mini cold war...though the USSR which was more than a match for the USA crumbled within less than 50 years of the cold war starting.

  7. During the arab/isreali war - i dont remember which one - PAF poilets flew syrain planes and got many kills without any losses of their own. Best results of that war i think.

There are most probably more but the media never publisie them.

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

The Pakistani army may be good-but I think they have got a bit carried away with their sense of importance. They have started interfering, influencing & governing the country.

The think they are the ONE & ONLY organisation-which can run the country, and that they are better than any bloody civilian.

Too much emphasis has been on building the armed forces and very very little on the social development of the country.

They have now become a burden on the Pakistani society-and need to be put in their place.

Their job is to safeguard the country against foreign aggression-Back to the barracks, is what I'd say.

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

Pak forces used to be good, especially PAF, but now they are part-time soldiers, part time civil servants more interested in making money, acquiring real estate than anything else.

They have helped corrupt Pakistan as much as anyone and are not a purely professional organization used to defend the country, such as armies around the world.

Pakistan is not a country with an Army, it is an Army with a country, to do with as it pleases, shame. One of the reasons Pakistan will not last

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

nut n honey!

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

Very well said kb1, we should be PROUD of pakistani military for lots of different reasons.
It's also true that they have interefered bit too much in running the country affairs but the corrupt politicians didn't help the matters either.

If you keep the political issues aside, they have done a great job especially PAF that we can really be PROUD of.

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

Seems like majority of threads are negative towards Pakistan... !

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

Deedawar it’s because it’s so easy to be an arm chair critic rather than doing some positive things or at least saying something positive about our own country.

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

you are absolutely right mysti.........

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

The Pakistani army has runied the Pakistani constitution. They think they are the only insitution in Pakistan that can run the governemnt. They think governemnt run by the people cannot work. Pakistani army is one of the highest paid army in the world. Pakistani army takes around 4% of the GDP of our economy, very high of an already poor nation(beware the number is much higher, Pakistani government is nortorious for fudging figures).
Indian army on the other hand only takes around 2% of their GDP.

10% of all land reosuces goes to the army, thats 10% of the whole Pakistani land going to the .004% of the population. Actually the number is probbaly much lower than that becuase that land only goes to generals and brigadiers.

Pakistani army control some of the biggest buisness conglomerates in Pakistan inclusing the most profitable. This inlcusies Fauji fertilzer. You might think this is ironic, but my uncle is Brigadier. After he retired, he a got a job at The Fauji Fertilizer Plant fertlizer plant at Rahim Yar Khan. He was head of plant. for 6 years. My god these people lived in luxury. He lived in a freaking 16 room house, with a 20 acre lawn. The house was full airconditioned with feee elctricity for all residents. There was enterainment including clubs restaurants everything. It was like pure luxury. All leeching off of the federal reserves.

My uncle also got alot of land reserves which i think wrongfully got taken away from locals. He got land in punjab and NWFP. This is true for the majority of high ranking officers.

I think Musharraf is ok, He introduced some reforms but didnt keep his promises. He like all military rulers, is a power hungry mongerer. But he does allow freedom of speech, expression, press press unlike Nawaz Sharif.

all developed countries in this world are established DEMOCRACIES, not MILITARY ruled goverments.

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

One more for the list above KB1:

  1. After the Arabs were handed a crushing blow, David Ben-Gurion said, and I am paraphrasing, we have nothing to fear from the Arabs. But if there is one country we need to look out for its Pakistan.

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

Oh yes blame the Niazi. Do you even know the full name of the Niazi in question let alone the occurrences that lead to the breakup?

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

//kb1 ///

Arent you posting in the wrong forum brother !!!.
This post should have been in the jokes forum or something of that sort. The last one takes the cake. Pakistanis were involved in the syria/Israeli conflict and PAF pilots flew syrian planes and killed many. Where do you get this information. Maybe from the Madrassah you just graduated from..

Anyway congratulations for graduating in one piece.

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

True, I believe he specifically was talking about PAF

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

^^ I don't think it was specifically to PAF but rather the remark was about Pakistan as a whole.

Re: What does the Pakistani millitary have to be proud of?

Before you rant on and on, Pakistan never established an offensive in Kashmir in 1971, nor did India launch an offensive from Wagha in 1971. So yeah, you can imagine whatever you want, but that does not really change what (and what didnt) actually happen back then.
