-full time headache.
-ppl expects a lot from u.
-u get bound to what u are, rather then exploring different "matters" and get new meaning of ur "To be"

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

Nothing.

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

you are right, Zobia.

which is why those whose lives are public lead such exposed and probed existence.

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

the more popular u are , more ppl love u and equally hate u

and its fake glamour:chai:

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

thanks K337,
i agree. see, that is why people should not have to live for others but at the same time, be true to their own selves and to others.
true noble characters can benefit that way by sharing their responsibility of creating a fair society that is not based on superficialities of show off or personal insecurities.

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

Last choice: Fake glamour. Not only will you be stuck with it but it might make you arrogant and thus, destroy your imaan which is the biggest loss.

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

love and hate are independent of each other. one doesnt guarantee the other.

popularity is exposure in positive light, iconic

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

Though there always is a voice inside every human being to become popular (one way or the other), but I would agree to a dua of a pious muslim I heard a long time ago. I wish one day I am able to think like that.

" O' Allah! I want to die in a way that no one praises me, no one remembers me, no one is aware of any of my good deeds, everyone forgets that once I even existed on this earth, but I only want to be successful infront of you on the day of Judgement"

^ Probably the dua was of a Suhabi (r.a)

Mostly saints in the past only wanted to be successful infront of Allah and disliked popularity infront of people, but after their death ALLAH (swt) made their name alive among people for generations, e.g. Imam Ghazali, Maulana Rumi, Imam Abu Hanifa,.......etc. People still go to graves of such saints and pray for them. With the permission of ALLAH no one could ruin their graves.

On the other hand alot of kings who tried their best throughout their lives to become popular among people and get their name written in golden words in history, died in a way that people in the later ages didn't even know their graves.

Allah knows BEST

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

hmm interesting! i say so cuz for the last few days i have developed this want 2 become famous...popular...in a way that i get the platform 2 showcase my talent and my thoughts on various issues......and people actually give heed 2 it....like i have this desire 2 know different kind of people from different fields...not cuz they r famous or celebrities but just cuz i like knowing abt different people n their experiences...n such people r found among common people 2 obviously.....so basically its not like i desire 2 becme a actor/singer/model..lol but maybe a successful/popular designer, journalist, writer.....dats more my field of interest!

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

Popularity to me means “meeting expectations” all the time. People start expecting too much from a popular person and that popular person starts to act upon those expectations, thus making him/herself look cocky or arrogant to general folks. The popular person will eventually feel hollow inside. ASk any popular GS guppy/guppan.. :cb:

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

This is a very best answer STP.

Re: What does Popularity mean to you?

^ JazakAllah khair sister for the kind words of encouragement.

Popularity at times might become very dangerous for the Imaan of a mo'min as it might polute his "Sincere intentions for ALLAH (swt)" which were previously only for the love of Allah, but too much appreciation might polute one's heart with ego and "Pleasure after hearing praise of SELF"
