So I see on TV how a christian priest can heal the ill and so on. Minus the drama part out of it, how is that interpreted in Islam? What explanation does Islamic scholars has for it.
Re: What does it mean?
You don’t need an Islamic explanation. The healing they they do are psychological issues with physical symptoms - the medical phrase being “conversion disorder”.
Once a person is able to overcome the psychological trauma causing the physical symptoms, for example through their faith in the priest’s prayer, they get “healed”.
Re: What does it mean?
Is this the instant healing they do on TV? I have seen people get cured of Diabetes, and cancer on those TV channels.
Re: What does it mean?
I can understand psychological trauma causing diseases that are less physical in degree. Things like depression and so on. But how is Diabetes, Cancer or Arthritis be caused just by a psychological trauma? Are you saying all the fatal diseases are marely cause of once psycology?
Re: What does it mean?
I saw one incident of an instant healing on TV but there are plenty of other channels that show indirect healing and many churches that are performing such activities.

Peace gul-e-bakauli
Healing 'miraculously' falls in to a few categories:
1) The disorders are mostly psychological
2) Frauds
3) By God
It is unfair to rule out the power of God even in Christian healings, because Allah (SWT) sustains and nourishes all mankind. However, we should remember that miracle healings are not 'proof' of truth. The Bible itself lays testimony to this:
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matt 7:15-23)
Re: What does it mean?
All this is just FRAUD
They pay the people who act like they are cured. Some time ago I remember a case where they caught a guy who pretended to be unable to walk and was magically cured in the tv show. Later they found this guy was just faking it and in collusion with the miracle worker.
I agree there are phenomenon that medical science cannot explain as yet but magical prime-time curing aint one of them
Re: What does it mean?
