So I was talking to my cousin-in-law’s wife the other day at a relative’s valima reception. I mentioned wanting to take another vacation. The last vacation we took was our honeymoon in December. Right away she goes “Are you high maintenance?”
This really caught me off guard. How is wanting to take two vacations a year considered high maintenance?
This girl has been married 1.5 years and hasn’t gone anywhere since her honeymoon. She seems to be ok with it. Maybe traveling isnt a big deal to her, but it clearly is to me.
Just wondering if this is considered high maintenace to most people. What do you consider high maintenance?
It's not if you make a lot of money or you don't spend on much other entertainment. We are fairly middle class, and we have a vacay maybe once every 2-3 yrs. That includes trips to Pakistan. We haven't gone anywhere in the past 4 yrs as a family.
hmm what I feel is that at such a young age esp after marriage couples starts saving money for house etc going for vacation is entertainment and some couples / families really put other things at more priority than vacations. But it's your life and your money you can spend it anyway you want.
I myself last went for Hajj with my parents in 2006 (which is not even vacation). Haven't even travelled outside Karachi ever since.
um, that kinda sounds stupid. I mean people have preferences abt where they want to spend their money. Some like to spend on clothes/cars/house others like to spend on vacations/travelling. Wanting to take 2 vacations a year is not "high maintenance"..
It doesn't sound crazy to me. Wanting is different from doing it. If you're crazy about doing something you especially can't afford, there might be an issue there. But if you can afford it, who cares?
Some people love to travel and I am one of them. If I was able to get away from work I would be travelling all the time. Its just a matter of what is important to people, you know?
I know people who like to save for things like a luxury car or a gorgeous house. And then I know some who save for amazing vacations because they love going places. Doesnt make anyone higher maintenance than the other...just different pursuits.
high maintenance--if you must have the best spa treatments every week, wear the nicest (expensive) clothes, the most exotic vacations more than once a year, taking no less than 2 hours to get ready, always eating out etc. all of that all at once....is high maintenance.
IMO nothing wrong with a few indulgences as long as there's a balance....thats my definition of high maintenance.....everyone differs.....
heck someone said I live high maintenance because I prefer to use Bounty tissue...and not cheap stuff :p
