I really love this name for a girl…DH not so sure but what do you guys think?

If you like it then that most what it matters, and second thing is name meaning.And it means "beautiful" which is not bad also.:)

It's pretty, but I do think for many people it's got very harsh sounds.

One of my friends daughters name is Zaleekah (which I think is similar to Zulekha but less 'harsh' sounding).

My best friend's mom's name is Zulekha...I think its pretty

its nice but its kind of harsh, imo.

also, where do you live? if its in the west, the kha will most likely become ka. do you like how Zuleyka sounds?

Its a really meaningful name and a very traditional one but one that one of my favs! We have a family friend whose named Zulekha.. very nice:k:..:wink:

Its nice but you might want to think about where you live also. I know we all want to name our kids unique names but if you live in the West…its hard growing up with a difficult name. Children can be very mean to each other. I also know we shouldnt care but we do. And its not because we want to fit in but because if you’re in the West, your life already is a mix of east and west…names should also be ones that work both ways. IMHO, there is nothing wrong with that.

My name got picked on so much, I would get into fights! I beat up three girls in kindergarten! :hehe:

my name gets mangled BEYOND belief! people even substitute letters for each other and ugh, its so difficult. not one non-desi person has looked it and properly pronounced it. and all the desi’s mis-spell it! i mean, wth? its a desi name, and you can SEE how i’m spelling it on facebook, so come on! pay attention! argh.
so yes, i completely 100% agree with you. names should be easy to pronounce cross-culturally and should be spelt as phonetically as possible.

Reha is actually short for Fariha. You would think its spelled so simply; people could sound it out like they tell us to in grade school, right? Nope. My life will never be that simple.

Fariha is mangled into:

FariNa (very common for some odd reason)
Faraya
Faroha
Fariah (like Mariah Carey)
Feria (like the hair color)
Ferrari
Fadiya
Fatiha
Farahi
Farah (like Farah Fawcett)
And the list goes on and on and on…

Yeah, now Im mad all over again…:mad2:

Please make your child’s name simple…:bummer:

Zuleykha is a beautiful name.

It will be pronounced the way you let people pronounce the name.

Again, there are more and more desis in the West now and name pronouncing isn't a big issue anymore.
