In our village in the Potohaar area we call such a room which is at the entrance to the house a Dehdi, that is where any guests are entertained until the ladies can go back into the womens quarters. it can be a small sitting room with a Lavatory.

I also heard same name for entrance in Sindh. So, the languages overlap.
