I am an idiot when it comes to all this skincare stuff but after coming to Canada and seeing ladies who are 45 and mothers of jawan kids but their skin shoes no sign of aging or wrinkles I would also like to take care of my skin and have it glowing.
I got a facial done 5 years ago at my nikah and the lady doing it told me that it would make no difference to my skin coz I already had nice, clear skin.
Come wedding time, I went to another salon and the lady refused to do it saying I didn’t need it, I had no black heads, no white heads, no pimples so why waste time and money. I was disappointed but happy at the same time.
I would like to know how do you know that your face needs a facial. And are there any at home facials that can be done to maintain youthful skin and to overcome sun damage, aging signs.
What about microdermabrasion, what does that do and who should get it done, any products that offer great results that can be used at home?
Facial is gud for deep cleansing. And it should be done after 25. House wife must be at least once in 2 monrgs. Skin get dry after 25 , so need this.
Micro i feel more effective than facial , i hv taken 3 seatng. But experience was bad. Dont knw reason. After 1 seatng i saw good result. Baby soft skin. But 2nd seatng wasnt gud. So need more opinion. Anyone hv done?
Hey from my understanding a facial is a deep cleansing procedure, it clearns the skin and gives it a nice glowy clean look. You say your skin is fine so just cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin to keep it healthy. A facial does the same as well as black head removal which is PAINFUL lol....
I've never had a microdermo facial but I think it helps even out skin tone....not sure though
I was not clear of the reasons for doing it and before I go shell out some mega dollars I wanted to know each of these things and what they can do for our skin.
I hope we get some more pros and their opinions and if some of these things can also be done at home
I get a facial only when there's a big occasion and I want that extra glow. What i love the most about it is the massage... it is soooooooo relaxing!
If you have healthy skin (no blackheads, acne etc) you don't need to worry too much about getting a facial IMO. Just make sure you keep your skin clean and moisturized and don't use harsh products. You can give your face a massage with olive or almond oil once in a while, and use steam at home to clean the pores.
Oh and if you've never done a facial before go with a very mild, preferably herbal one for the first time.

A facial is basically a deep cleansing of the pores and gives skin a youthful appearance. They're also relaxing and good IF you use the right products and techniques to get rid of acne slowly. This was my experience.
My face has gotten much much more clear after a series of facials. If I have a breakout...it heals after a facial.
What I noticed is the product and technique matter. There are many many different types that treat different issues in your skin. Dry skin, oily skin, acne, aging skin, etc.
And then there are fun ones like fruit facials and such.
Is skin supposed to be glowing immediately after a facial? Is it supposed to be really bad and then clear up immediately or something? (or does that happen with peels???)
I always read in beauty magazines that you should get a facial not less than 4 days before an event...
I haven't had a facial since shortly after I got married (5 years ago!!!!!) but I really want one...just for pampering and I guess to give my skin an extra oomph. I dunno if I trust the salon ladies to tell me what kind to get, cz they'll try to get me to get the most expensive ones!
If you have beautiful skin I would not go for facials. Lots of ppl will tell you need it and rip you off. Always try to go to reputable places whenever you do something to your face. Best thing is use apricot scrub whenever you take a bath, steam your face before a party. I like to put a couple tsp of yogurt mixed with money. Apply after steaming face. Leave for 10 min. Then use apricot scrub. Remember less is more.
Also forgot mention that eating healthy, exercising and have positive energy all bring about the health glow that you see some aunties with.
Also if you really want splurge on yourself buy some department store makeup. The more expensive products from stores like bare escentuals, sephora are worth it. So I would skip the facial and invest in good makeup product if you want to pamper yourself.

Everyone's different. Most people see results immediately...I always do. My skin is CLEAR. Soft. Relaxed. Smooth. Some people see it after a couple of days.
I say make sure the salon you go to is using good products.
