i don’t know if they do or do not consider Hazrat Ali [KW] to be equal to Allah for sure but saying “Yaa Ali!” is tantamount to him being omnipresent [an attribute of Allah]. as i believe one of the sects within shi’aism does consider him to be equal to Allah…i think it’s one of the sects in Lebanon. i will rather not deviate from the topic at hand. i’m not saying that they do believe in Hazrat Ali [KW] to be equal to Allah…what i say is that their reverence is at a higher level so it may be ok to call someone Abdul Ali just to show utmost respect. theologically, yes! this name should not be valid.

equal terminology in desi society for ‘Ya Ali’… Don’t we say ‘Amma Ji’ when we are hurt or in fever. At least, I did said when I was in fever and my Amma was hundreds miles away from me. Does that mean we consider our Amma jis omni present?
