Re: What do you think of people..
For most young people it's an excuse to buy trashy langerie for their lovers, I'm not one of them.
Re: What do you think of people..
There are some people who say that we will take flowers and gift to our loved one on Feb 13 or Feb 15, but not on Feb 14, bcz we don't believe in "Hallmark" Holiday. Help me understand, if you are buying flowers and card on Feb 13, aren't you helping Hallmark, anyway? Ok, so their cashflow is off by a day.... but really.....
Re: What do you think of people..
My husband has never done anything for v-day and i wouldn't appreciate it if he did either, it has no relevance for me and i'll be damned if he should make an effort for a single day desinged to profit big corps
he should appreciate me everyday *bashful grin*the unexpected flowers and notes are just the right thing,
Re: What do you think of people..
DD, it only goes to show that your husband loves you very much, masha'Allah and does not single out a day to show his appreciation towards you, rather he showers you with flowers and presents when you're least expecting them. :)
Faisal, you don't necessarily have to buy cards. I think it'd be very sweet if people draw/make cards for each other.
Re: What do you think of people..
You are out to bankrupt Hallmark? Think of all the great things they have done for you! ![]()
Re: What do you think of people..
It seems like you own a Hallmark franchise.
Koi baat nahee, you'll have plenty more lazy and uncreative customers buying cards from you.
Re: What do you think of people..
Hey! thats not a bad business, after all. On average there are far more lazy people in this world than non-lazy. So, Hallmark will remain in business. Plus the creative people in Hallmark keep coming up with more and more superflous and inane days and all the suckers keep falling for it and keep buying cards.
Re: What do you think of people..
conniving businessmen!
Re: What do you think of people..
or geniuses. Same thing.
Re: What do you think of people..
Waisay Hallmark cards aren't all that bad.
They should have customized cards where you could put your messages (on the card) online and collect it at your nearest Hallmark store.
Re: What do you think of people..
Yea rite! Give them more ideas. Aap hamaray saath hein ke sher ke saath? ![]()
Re: What do you think of people..
Perhaps I'll keep this idea for myself. May be I can start a business selling personalized greeting cards.
Re: What do you think of people..
stop Yhinning
lagta hai we will cry till next Valentines day on this issue ![]()
Re: What do you think of people..
dunn celebrate v-day, wife dunn either, there are other days that are personally meaningful to us, the day we first met, the day I professed me love, the day I proposed, the day we were married, birthdays. Those days we make special...on the other hand valentines day, sweetest day, what other days are there...mean jack to us.
Re: What do you think of people..
When you’re married every day is a valentine’s day :elmo:
But a nice bunch of flowers and some jewelry isn’t bad
once a month at least. And if someone’s doesn’t do it even once
every six months then once every year won’t make that guy any cheaper
than he’s being already by not extending such gestures towards spouse.

true, but it doesnt hurt to buy a card or candies.
Re: What do you think of people..
Re-read. Every day is a valentine's day meant not the words
but the gestures that are associated with it as well.
Re: What do you think of people..
aalhan good thoughts
suroor..
why does it have to be chocolates and roses and a card to show affection? I mean, lets be ourselves, if you want to make someone feel special, it does not have to include showing it in a generic manner one day of the year which has no personal meaning to you.
Why not a surprise weekend trip at a nice resort and a spa package out of the blue or when you see your significant other stressed due to work? why not get them something he/she has been eye-ing but has not
very recently wifey surprised me with a case of Lilt (which is hard to find in US), a bunch of time-out chocos, and couple of jars of clotted cream from devon cream co..all special ordered from london. Just cuz she knew I like the stuff and have been craving it off and on since I have not made it back to London in some time. That meant more to me than if she had bought me a card and stuff on v-day. There is a particular dessert that she really likes, last week when i was busy as hell at work, i stopped by some place on the way back and picked it up for her.
flipping over to a new week in my pda and seeing she has left notes for me already is also a sweet and nice and very personal gesture that is so much in line with her personality than buying me a card.
and the cards we do get one another are blank, we write the words, we pick the poems or write them..
I see guys rushing into walgreens on the way back from work on v-day and sifting thru cards to find the best of whats left and pick up a box of whatever chocolates is there..that shows some sentiment.
Its the thought that counts but what kinda thought goes into that
