posting in forums, going to chat rooms (using IRC) etc ... are different shapes of same thing. BTW, this forum where u are posting right now ... was created becaues of IRC. People couldn't leave messages for others on IRC so forums were introduced and now some people chat like posting on forums as compared to IRC.
BTW, yahoo & MSN etc are all different forms of IRC, also IRC is Internet Relay Chat & mIRC is just a software (dont people dont know the difference).

Theres a reason I posed this question. Although ideally people shouldnt formulate opinions about others based on this, the fact remains that plenty of people do.
I find it interesting that here on GS, people havent made the comments or people dont think the thoughts I posed in my question, but outside of GS, plenty of people have those thoughts. I know because I used to be someone that used to chat all the time. And when people used to hear that or I would tell them that, they had a lot of things to say to me, and they assumed a lot of things.
I find that this attitude hasnt changed amongst people, but I wanted to know what people who actually are online think. Apparently theres a difference in thinking with people who are regulars online and those that arent.

first i use to go to chat rooms everyday and chat wid strangers..but then i got really bored..introducing myself to strangers everyday n getting to know basic stuff bout ppl..and now i think its such a time waste..i mean mostly ppl dont even talk bout gud..valuable things..its just simple basic stuff
its fun sumtimes..and when i m really bored i go to one..but still if a person is doing that on a regular basis .. then its just i mean "get a life now" talk to real ppl bout real stuff!

and it depends mostly on the personality . Any looser may talk nonsensical
and any thoughtful person may talk good .

I used to do that in high school, msg random ppl online, find em in chatrooms, but I grew out of it..Now i randomly msg ppl on facebook (they go to my college, but never spoken to em) :)

Well! That is being judgemental as well. Being a loser/otherwise is subjective. A thoughtful person for one may be a BSter for another one.

its quite fun to chat with strangers in chatrooms sometimes... especially when i'm really bored and hubby is working late.
i've made some really gud friends in chatrooms.... and i mean really really great buddies who are more like family friends now!

i think most of the pepz there suffer from the syndrom boredom. Lots of pep are there while they are at work to help themselves get through the day. I come to gs chat while i m studying or working on computer, it makes me actually not get bored + sometimes there are a bit intellect convs going on there. Though i think there should be an age limit to let pepz enter on chat. I have seen lots of 13-14 yr old kids on chat. They should actually be exercising, playing at that age, not socializing on chat.

Barfee ur parents are really concered abt you ...they are right ....visiting chatrooooms is just a waste of tim ....i hav find ppl who just bought the cards ..just for chatting ....after wasting the tim there ...they just seemed to be lik a army defeated by their oponents ...tim is preciousthing.. ..and we hav to consider tim --1 sec equal to 1 dollar ..used it in som healty activity ...
dont waste this money
that what i think .......specially when u r using interent on a costly Basis
and if u r somwhere in som org or department where internet is free and u r free as well....dont hav a work ..then its an exception case .....
