Most people would go online and talk to strangers just to be able to get an unbiased point of view/opinion/piece of advice about something they have on their mind.
I guess it's easier to talk to "strangers" at times simple because they are strangers and not in your face/life otherwise.
It's not really abnormal behaviour as long as it is not done with a feeling of compulsiveness. Anything done in excess is not healthy. Although there may be exceptions to this too.
