Re: What do you say about this???
Oh my God I think I know this couple's story...Im pretty sure they belong to the Ahmadiyya Jamaat... family friends of my bil's mamoo..
Small world after all. Except the version we were told was that he told her he was gay and he refused to sleep with her and so on and his parents knew... she confronted them, and they would beat and torture her and tell her she better not say a word about it to anyone.
Re: What do you say about this???
^^^ what does this have to do with the sect they belong to?? :S
Re: What do you say about this???
Nothing Im just wondering if this is the same people.
Re: What do you say about this???
No wonder only a GAY guy can beat up a woman ![]()
A very horrible story though. May Allah give her justice.
Re: What do you say about this???
There is more than meets the eyes. I will wait to comment till the other side of the story is told in the court. What if she has a lover in Pakistan and is making it all up to get divorce and go marry that guy , who knows , this world is full of surprises.
Her story can be true or false , but till now it is one sided story.
Re: What do you say about this???
whatever the story.. beating someone is just not justifiable..
assuming that it is girl's fault: then divorce her
assuming that the inlaws/husband are guilty: they should be punished..

^ agreed.

Just her going to court and saying in the court is that she was beaten is not a proof.
Again at this point I am not saying that she is lying or her story is false . All I am saying we should wait to see what happens next.
A few month back I read a story in an online karachi news paper about how a girl's family was killed by someone and they robbed the home , I was so sorry for the poor girl, then later on the story took the turna and twist, it turned out that the girl made a plan with her lover and his friend to stage a robbery kill the whole family who did not approve of her lover and then they planned to get married later and live happily ever after.
Lo karlao gull. I felt like pulling my hair after I read that part of the news story.
Re: What do you say about this???
If this is the same story that I know of, then all the details here are accurate. My BIL's mami was very close to the family, and they were always speaking bad about her in front of them, she said many times she would go to the house and find her dressed nicely, but her face was haggard and many times she was bruised and whatnot. She just said that she bruised easily. It was a big tamasha in their community... the head of the Ahmadiyya jamaat spoke to the guy also and told him he has to give her a divorce if he cant treat her nicely. Soon after she was kicked out and went to live with her brother in another city. News of his gayness spread soon afterward... he had nasty gay videos on his phone and computer and stuff. Yuck!
She had access to one of his email passwords and found mail from other men asking time and place they should meet.. totally gross.
Re: What do you say about this???
^ I dont have an issue with him being gay, but he must have been an airhead for partly ruining the girls life! Even if he didn't want to come out of the closet, he could have just said no to the wedding.
Re: What do you say about this???
^I think the wife was chosen by the parents to show the world that he's 'normal' and people wouldn't speculate. It's very common now, so many gay men in Pakistan and abroad are pressured into marrying women because of their family's izzat. It's sad that some of these wives are tortured later on because the husband has no emotional attachment to them, the inlaws think that kaam hogaya ab lets just treat her like a servant, etc. It's so sad, really.
Re: What do you say about this???
ridiculous, educated people these days....

This makes lot of sense. How can something like this be prevented from happening by the society ? Any ideas ?

I think probing into potential's background is really necessary. So many parents consider status, wealth and 'foreign' people to be the biggest factors in marriage and give their daughters away. Education or money doesn't gaurantee crap. Even belonging to a good family doesn't do anything anymore because even some of the most educated and strictest of parents don't know what their children are upto. IMO, parents need to check everything/ get references very thoroughly before marrying their daughters off. It's not always easy though and that's when it comes to the girl to speak out, not take this crap and end the relationship if she has to.
Re: What do you say about this???
very sad!!!!!...:(..a girls worst nightmare..
Re: What do you say about this???
omg how sad
Re: What do you say about this???
Mirchi Aapa is totally right.
IF she is at fault, divorce should've been the solution or Shariya court.
BEATING a girl is not right, under any circumstances. Her parents brought her up with so much love and care, send her to another country with a man they chose for her and this is what she gets??
Also. what does she think of her parents' choice after all this?
