We already know what is bad about desies and des .
There must be something you like about desies , desi parents, desi customs, desi food, desi clothing, des ki matti, des key khushboo, des key music.
Please share you likings and the reason behind them.

its the land my forefathers fought for.- how can I not have a soft spot for it. if u look at history, there are stories of my ancestors heads being chopped off and hoisted at city gates at the war of independence in 1800s. from there all the way to demonstrating for pakistan, going to jail for civil disobedience..and in the end, leaving everything and everyone to move to their new homeland..I can not forget that and turn my back on the country.

i like some desi food - cuz of variety and taste (easy on the ghee please)

I like desi music (unless its just stolen)- chillin to sitar and tabla is an experiennce not to be missed

I like desi poetry and literature- ghalib, mir, faiz, iqbal, ibne insha, yusufi, shfeeq ur rehman, ibn e safi..need I say more

I like desi family atmopshere

colors, mountains, mitti (especially on rainy day the smell is so :jano:), food :yummy:, mystic music, clothes, languages etc

what X2 said and more

how can i dislike the place for whose independence my ancestors prayed for? the land to which they migrated to? for which they made their sacrifices. it's got it's problems, but then again so do all the other lands.

i like it's history. it's chock full of amazing sites, sights and sounds. the people that lived there, the people that tried to tame the land. the things that came out of it. the art, the architecture. just head to RKS, or travel and tourism, image 2/3 and look at some of the stuff there. take a trip to it, and look at the archeological sites, and see how there are layers of history there, right on top of each other.

i like the food. how many places do you know has so much variety on one single ingredient? so many ways to cook daal, sabzi, gosht. the spices are talked about all over the world. heck we spoiled the goras, so much so they "discovered" the americas to get to what we had.

the natural wealth. some of the most amazing precious and semi-precious gems are found here. then the way we present these, you can't find it anywhere else.

the music is good. some like it, some don't. but the talent is there. desis can most of the time sing. the kinds of musical instruments we have is just amazing.
and the passion we have for all things desi. we hate it. we love it. but you can't deny it, in either case, there is the passion. can't take out the desi from a desi.

oh and the half desi kids. the cutest things on the planet!

my amma (not my mom) used to make it. i learned it from her. i think. we had that special danda thingamajig that u just twirl around to make the makhan. never ate it (i don’t like makhan) but man it was fun just sitting there and watching it :cb:

Sarsoon da saag tay makkan makai and namkeen lassi , never had for a long time.

why don't you make it at home? sarsoon you can either get from a normal grocery store or a desi one. namkeen lassi takes like 2 minutes. you can also make makki ki roti at home. if you don't want to go through the hassle of making sure the makai doesn't fall apart, get the maize tortillas from the grocery store.

it’s also made with a mixer(beater) an electric machine used for making it .

kaaaaaash keh tum khao , fresh mukhan wid mukkaye ki rooti and lussi , i think it’s one of the best foods i ever had in life :yummy:

maan kay hath key khushboo will not be there , she is not alive. Allah jannat naseeb karay. My wife makes sarsoon da saag kabhi kabhi , but I could never convince her to make makai dee roti. That maize tortillas I hate their taste their odor or aroma whatever you call it.

There are a lot of things.

One is desi food. Man, no other food in world can be compared to desi food. The variety and Mirchiness in it is just :lajawab:
