Most Pakistanis do not celebrate Christmas but as so many of us live in Western countries what do you like and dislike about Christmas?
I like the Christmas spirit in people as the usually stiff-lipped British interact with strangers a bit more. People seem to smile that bit more and many houses and streets are adorned with lights. I actually do like the religious side of it when some go to Midnight Mass even though I am not Christian.
The fact that is in mid-winter has its own appeal. The snow, pine trees, Reindeer and Robin images is quite appealing.
I have always wanted to try the food at Christmas. Quite a few restaurants in the North of England offer Halal Christmas food.
The Tv was good viewing too - The Snowman was a classic film. I also liked the Christmas specials they would have. They would always show Sinbad movies - they were my favourite.
I dont like the commercialisation of it and how some drink a bit too much!
I technically don't live in the WEST, but we are pretty much as modern as the WEST, so yeah we celebrate Christmas too and the best thing is the Winter Sparkle Sale of Debenhams. ^__^
I always find it funny that around christmas time they wish you a good day and are nice in the shops. even holding the door open lol.
anyway i do like the lights and decoration, and i like snow… but only if im inside the house with a hot choco:wub:
Eid has its own magic and even though I live in the US I still feel it in the air.
Christmas is one of those holidays where you can't help but feel it. I like the trees, lights (we actually go out to see the lights with my nieces and nephew every year), food (fruitcakes and all that), reindeer, Santa, presents, etc etc etc.
We don't do the presents and trees bit BUT I do go and get poinsettia plants, decorate the salon a little bit and do an xmas dinner. Everyone' off so why not? Its just family time.
I am Christian so i loooooveee everything about Christmas. Shopping, lighting, tree, presents, dinner with family and friends. And endless partiesss. yayyy!!!! Andddd Singings Christmas songs with my friends at church on the day of Christmas.
I love the Christmas spirit! people are out having fun with family and friends, shopping, eating, decorating, helping others. Its just beautiful. And unlike Pakistan, they actually have SALES on their religious holidays, whereas in Pakistan the prices of food and clothes double during Eid and Ramadan (except Pepsi prices lol). Oh and I love love love how beautifully decorated downtown Chicago is. My favorite Christmas movies: How Grinch Stole Christmas, Charlie Brown’s Christmas. Oh and I love Christmas Songs. The Holiday time makes me happy
