Last night a friend took me for a spin in his new brand new (16 miles on the clock) Acura SRX (or something like that), 2 door, shift turbo stuff and all the stupid crap that you will never use. I felt claustrophobic going 118 on the belt. Could have gone faster.

its okay..not as good as the best of them, and not as bad as the pontiac aztec (can anything be as bad as that...even a khota garri looks better)
the volvo sport ute looks pretty nice though.

Wait till u see the Scion from Toyota. I had the misfortune to have to look at one during the Auto Show last week. Both of them seem to be made from the same mould

Remember ...there is no substitute.
I check the Cayenne from inside during the Auto Show. Other than the fact that it was the worst shade of tan from inside and brown (icky) from the outside, its a darn good SUV. From the specs it is clear, it is very powerful and from the road reviews it seems it has good road manners.
Now, the only problem is that the Porsche puritans would only wanna see a Porsche badge on a sports car, so thats their problem. I am sure they will grow out of it.
The exterior styling of this SUV is quite controversial. From the front it has the lights of any typical Porsche, but the back is utterly forgettable. I don't think it is the best-designed vehicle coming out from the folks at Porsche. Personally, I think Toureg (from VW) will be a much more capable SUV. Its coming out in US anytime now.

its not a questionn of porsche puritans getting used to teh badge on a truck with hutch err i mean sport utility. They could have designed it better. as u said yourself its not the best designed car coming out of their designers.
