what do you give as presents?

At the end of this month, it is the wedding of my dad’s best friends daughter. My dad’s best friend died a while back because of cancer but we are still close to the family. The marriage is a love marriage as such.

What my question is that what do you give as presents? What is the tradition these days, fashion or what happens these days. Me and my family haven’t really been to a wedding since like years and years so we are a bit outdated.

Money? Chocolate boxes? Clothes? What?

And also is there a separate present for separate functions? Like what for mehndi, nikah and reception??

what do you give as presents?

Cash/Salaami...that's it. No separate gifts needed at each function.

Re: what do you give as presents?

We usually buy something from the couple's wedding registry. If they don't have a registry then we give a check.

No separate gifts. Just 1 for the shaadi/reception day.

Re: what do you give as presents?

Cash is usually the way to go. The closer you are to the couple, the bigger the amount. How much depends on you and your financial abilities.

Re: what do you give as presents?

cash or gift card

Re: what do you give as presents?

^same. We give either cash or cheque too.

Unless its a really close relative's wedding, then we gift gold or pitch in with the bride's family with one of the jahez items. (Since we don't have a registry in pakistan)
