… if, after two weeks of starting a new job, you decide that the job you’ve been working towards for five years isn’t right for you? ![]()

u cry :p (only aplicable to females :p )
I'd give it more time if I were you. I've always felt miserable whenever starting a new job.
If you still feel you dislike the place after a month maybe then you should move on. But that's just my opinion.
Already tried locking my door and crying myself to sleep (outta self pity) but that totally didn’t work

I was offered a full time managerial post at M&S five years ago, u reckon the offer still stands ![]()
Samby, I guess it might be more to do with the actual job than the career … I've done similar jobs before (homeless team, asylum seekers, drugs counselling and the likes), and have always loved my jobs, but this one is just different.
I'm working as a social worker in a children and families team, and am totally against the ethos of the place I work for. I had to sit there on my first day and observe my manager interviewing this mother whose kid had just been taken into care – my manager was a total bitch and felt like giving her a good bitch slap, but I somehow resisted. I told her about how I felt about the way she’d conducted the interview, and lets just say it didn’t go down too well :D
Plus everyone that I’m working with is so fed up with their jobs … they’re constantly moaning about how stressful it is and how I should get out while I can. I think the negative atmosphere is starting to get to me :s

Sadi, the same thing happened to me when I was acting as a social worker for the department of children and families. Everyone claimed to hate their job, and everyone was almost twice as old as I was. They all told me to get out. Eventually I did, and I am very happy that I did. I am sure that had I gone into other related departments I would have had a better time. I think it was just that particular department.
^ I know Munni. Every job has its fair share of moaners, but social services totally takes the piss. When I was working in an adults team, I used to ignore all the moaners cuz working with the clients made it all worthwhile, but it's totally different with C&F team (probably because here I'm enforcing teh law whereas there I was giving services that the client was requesting (?) )
It just gets to me cuz this is the exact job that I've wanted to do for years now, and it's totally not what I expected. So much time is taken up with paperwork that I hardly get time to visit my clients. Plus my lcal authority got totally blasted by everyone and anyone in the Byfield enquiry, when, in my opinion, the mistakes made by the social worker could quiite easily have been made by me :(
I think I'll give it another couple of weeks ....
Babes, give it sometime and if it still seems like a dead end..get out.
What do you do if you hate your work so much that you wish your boss would fire you, so that you could go back to Pakistan and work on a farm or something.
^
Quit!
DD, I know babes, that’s what i’m planning on doing ![]()
As I said I would, except that there are responsibilities that I wont be able to take care of if I did.
