My bridal lehnga came in from Pk and it looks nothing like what I ordered. I have been crying for 3 days. I spent so much money on this stupid dress and it is completely different from what I was expecting. The designer made changes to it without telling me. What the heck. This is so UNFAIR.
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
Oh no! :( Where did you order it from? You already paid in the full? If you have enough time maybe you could send it back to someone who could add to it or alter it to make it more acceptable? OR put up for sale and get a new one altogether. I'm so sorry this happened though. :( Hope things work out for you inshAllah!
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
If you have time- send it back! Tell the designer this is NOT what you ordered and that you either need a full refund or you need him/her to make what YOU wanted..not what they thought was acceptable.
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
I don't have any time left :'(
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
Aw how much time?? Can you ask a friend or relative in pk to pick up some decent readymade lehnga from local boutiques and ship it on express delivery? Maybe you can sell the dress eventually to make up for the lost money. What's your family saying about it?
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
Where do you live? If it's the UK i'm sure you can find a beautiful ready made lehnga there. Is the dress you ordered truly horrendous though? Or is it wear-able but just not what you imagined it to be?
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
Muslimah118 - I didn't like mt bridal dress either. My designer was awful...I only saw my outfit a DAY before my wedding. She had truly messed up both professionally and creatively. I didn't select my outfit from a store but it was sketched for me. So I could only IMAGINE what it looked like. Even if she had given it to me on time, I still wouldnt have been able to order another outfit.
Don't panic, maybe get jewellery to make it look amazing and a great mua and you will be fine! Be confident.
Let us know how you get on xxxx
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
i wore it with pride and it looked quite good.
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
You get on the jainamaz and thank Allah mian that it wasnt from your MIL.
Honestly if you are confident about you have some style, you should not have a problem making the best out of a worst situation/dress.
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
Thanks, my friends are telling me the same thing, that I can still pull it off with makeup & jewelry. It's not an ugly dress, but it's not at all what I was expecting. When you tell a designer to "copy" something, there is definitely some miscommunication. Copy does not mean TRY to get the general pattern in the cheapest way possible. To me, it means exact copy. Oh well. I will still wear it inshAllah and just be glad when all of this wedding stress is over.
There is so much pressure in our culture for every bride to be the prettiest bride ever. Ironic, no? And petty.
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
I think you have to be careful. Asking a designer to exactly work like a regular worker and copy something is just not realistic. They are artists, remember, and asking them to copy some other person's design seems unfair. Now, of course, they should not agree to it if they are unwilling to make the copy and certainly should not make changes without telling you, but I do think that we do a disservice when we don't consider their artistic sense.

I think given the comments after the royal wedding, the pressure is not only in Pakistani culture.

When I ordered the dress, they asked me if I wanted the "same exact kaam as the picture" and I said yes. So naturally, I was expecting something very similar to the pic. They also added things I specifically asked them not to do. Aghhh.
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
^ Very frustrating.
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
I'm scared:(:(
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
did you even try it out???
some times clothes turn out better when we try em out
and sometimes they only looks good on the mannequin and not on the body.
Re: What do you do when you hate your bridal dress?
If it's still a nice dress you have nothing to worry about! Unless a girl chooses the exact dress on display from the original designer, it usually turns out almost nothing like she imagines!
My dress was almost nothing like what I asked for but was still beautiful. And honestly when I first got it, I threw a mini tantrum cause I had to change my wedding colours and I felt really ripped off paying so much and not getting what I asked for. But when I calmed down and tried the dress on, it was stunning and I got over it.
So you won't look like what you imagined - you'll still look great, iA! So find a way to accessorize so that you'll the overall look :)
