what do u think abt this name?

Re: what do u think abt this name?

hmm... Honestly, I do not like it. But like others said... it is up to you.. Good luck with the name search!

Queer is just jealous because vowels cost money and consonants are free.

Like really? Like yeah! Like OMG ....totally! Like you haven't heard of other names that only have one consonant?

How about the name Ali? Or Ira? or Riya. Yes, "Y" is sometimes considered a vowel.

You certainly have a very good point, though. We should instead go for names that sound normal and suggest normalcy.......like...........um...........Queer.

Re: what do u think abt this name?

i dont like the name yaar there are a lot of wonderful muslim names that r also unique go for those... redvelvet has directed u to a wonderful website

i dont know why you are taking this personally, but okay. alaia? in a non-phonetic language like english, so many vowels propped on a single consonant - have fun. everyone is going to pronounce that name differently.

whats a normal name? the original poster lives in germany. your stupid american shanaqua associations and biases clearly aren't an issue. and you'd have to be extra dumb to name a brown baby in germany "aryana".

I'm not taking it personally, Queer. I just don't think that having only one consonant in a name is such a big deal. Apart from names.......the English language contains many words that are propped on a single consonant.

I didn't suggest the name Aryana.....I suggested Ayana (minus the r)......,which is the female variant of the male name, Ayaan. Yes, names can evoke certain images and stereotypes. I don't have anything against Blacks.......I only said that the name sounds African American......and if the poster likes it........she should go for it.

The ratio of consonants to vowels is harder to control......you're going to spell the name how it sounds phonetically. One can spell it as Alaya if that makes it easier to pronounce and makes it look better. Y is still a vowel. I saw the name spelled this way on a website......thought it was interesting.......and copy and pasted it in my post. And English is a phonetic language. Phonics and phonemic awareness are two of the 5 components of reading.
