Hi Folks
After watching some 60 or so matches all of us might have different opinions on who is the best player, the best team and so on. So here is my opinion on the categories I came up with, and would like to know everyone elses opinion as well, but make sure you are totally unbiased and impartial, and be very honest about it.
Best Forward: Hasan Sas (Turkey) Best Midfielder: Junichi Inamoto (Japan) Best Defender: Cafu (Brazil) Best Goalkeeper: Oliver Kahn (Germany) Best Coach: Bruno Metsu (Senegal) Most exciting team to watch: Brazil Most exciting match: Group “A” game Uruguay Vs Senegal 3:3 Biggest flop (Team): France Biggest flop (player): Thierry Henry (France) Luckiest team: S Korea Unluckiest team: Italy Team that won your heart: Senegal Team that lost respect: France Team that you want/wanted to win: Italy Team that you want/wanted to lose: England
I don’t want to achieve immortality through my work… I want to achieve it through not dying.

um hehe i had biases for most of the categories, so i am only posting the following answers which i think are the least impartial:
Best Goalkeeper: Oliver Kahn (Germany) Most exciting team to watch: Senegal Most exciting match: Senegal vs. Sweden (Round of 16) Biggest flop (Team): draw between Argentina and France Team that won my heart: Senegal Team that you want/wanted to win: Senegal followed by Ireland
(This is very subjective, but…) Most embarassing match to watch: Saudi Arabia vs. Germany (1 June)
Best Coach: Bruno Metsu (Senegal)—AGREED
Most exciting team to watch: Brazil-- Not anymore, they have over stayed their welcome.
Luckiest team: S Korea-- Oh yeah
Unluckiest team: Italy------ Man hell yah ALWAYS
Team that won your heart: Senegal----Yeah they did
Umer yaar you took the Rivaldo thing to your heart!..come on man they are not so bad as a team…exciting to watch IMHO!..good choice in Senegal though.
I was debating myself as to put Zidane in the flop category or not, but the guy didn’t play two games, so Henry got my vote on that one, even though Francesco Totti was a close contender!! (yeah I’m an Italy fan!)

Ehsan he is not talking about a match but he can't decide who was a bigger flop.
For me the biggest flop of the tournament is Zinedane Zidane, the guy was expected to do something big in the match against Denmark but he couldn't live up to the hype.
The most exciting team to watch was South Korea, every match was full with fans screaming.
Overall in players I have to go for Rivaldo, he has scored most goals and put on a great act against Turkey.
Best Goalie was Oliver Kahn, I knew that beofre the world cup started.
The biggest flop team has to be France, not Argentina, Argentina played well but couldn't capatalize when they needed to win.
The team I want to see win is Germany no doubt.
The team I don't want to see win is South Korea as they have been lucky on every match they have played.
The best of the tournament has to be either Korea vs Spain or Korea vs Italy, can't decide.
No, not an actual match between Argentina and France, but can’t decide who flopped worse in the two countries’ respective matches. France getting whipped by Senegal was a shocker for me… but so was Argentina not making it to the round of 16!
**Thanks Nadia…ur choice of Ireland made me laugh!
Best Forward: Raul (Spain) Best Midfielder: Michael Ballack (Deutshland) Best Defender: Paolo Maldini (Italy) Best Goalkeeper: Oliver Kahn (Deutshland) Best Coach: Mick McCarthy (Rep. Ireland) Most exciting team to watch: Brazil/Senegal Most exciting match: Quarters - Deutshland vs. USA, or Round of 16 - Italy vs. Korea Biggest flop (Team): Argentina Biggest flop (player): Thierry Henry (France) Luckiest team: South Korea Unluckiest team: Italy Team that won your heart: Republic of Ireland Team that lost respect: Brazil Team that you want/wanted to win: Italy/Turkey
**Team that you want/wanted to lose: **England/USA

OK, as I see most people have lost respect for Brazil, Why?
You should say Rivaldo, which was preety clever as I think of it.
I like to add one more.
I think I would have to go with 4 unlucky teams.
Nigeria who were probably one of the first ones to be eliminated from the cup, eventhough they lost all their matches but you have to feel sorry for them, they played so well, they were just unlucky to be drawn into that group, if it was some other group they would have surely made it to next round.
Spain and Italy were literally cheated out of their matches were also unlucky as well, as would have been a treat to watch as the 2 should have been met in quarters.
France, eventhough they were biggest flop of the tournament they were also extremely unlucky specially when shooting, most of their shots were hitting the post rather than going to goalie or outside.
Brazil had the choice to punish Rivaldo for his actions, and they didn't.
Everyone backed Brazil and Rivaldo. If a team had fair play, they could have taken a initiative to sit him a match, cut pay, etc.
Instead they were backing Rivaldo throughout the whole controversy.
France may have flopped, but not Zidane. He was out for two games, and on his return, which he shouldn't have returned. He was still going by a injury, but France took a risk and played him. He had a lot of trouble with his left foot, thus Denmark capatilized easily.

It wasn’t just the fooling around of Rivaldo which made me angry. It was the fact that the whole Brazilian team (including the coach) tried to justify it, when he said he’d do it again if he was in the same situation again.
Best Forward: Vieri (Italy) Best Midfielder: Best Defender: R.Carlos (Brazil) Best Goalkeeper: Casillas (Spain) Best Coach: Guus Hiddink (SKorea) Most exciting team to watch: South Korea Most exciting match: Italy-SKorea Biggest flop (Team): France Biggest flop (player): Figo Luckiest team: Brazil/SKorea Unluckiest team: Italy/Spain Team that won your heart: Hiddink!!!
Best Forward: Ronaldo Best Midfielder: Basturk Best Defender: Ferdinand Best Goalkeeper: Recbu Rustu
Best Coach: Bruno Metsu (Senegal) Most exciting team to watch: Brazil Most exciting match: Brazil v Turkey*Biggest flop (Team):* Argentina Biggest flop (player): Hasan Suker Luckiest team: S Korea Unluckiest team: Spain Team that won your heart: Paraguay Team that lost respect: France Team that you want/wanted to win: Brazil Team that you want/wanted to lose: Germany
Best Forward: RAUL GONZALES (SPAIN) Best Midfielder: MICHEAL BALLACK (GERMANY) Best Defender: PAOLO MALDINI (ITALY) Best Goalkeeper: RUSTU (TURKEY) Most exciting team to watch: SENEGAL Most exciting match: Uruguay Vs Senegal 3:3 Biggest flop (Team): FRANCE Biggest flop (player): THEIRRY HENRY (FRANCE) Luckiest team: SOUTH KOREA Unluckiest team: ITALY Team that won your heart: SENEGAL Team that lost respect: BRAZIL Team that you want/wanted to win: GERMANY Team that you want/wanted to lose: FRANCE
this is my choice i hate france and this time i kinda did not like BRAZIL too becuz of their cheating and forcing the referee and plus they did not have that charm this year as the last time.
p.s this years officiating i mean the refereeing was really bad specially the assistant referees.
About Zadain he played wonderful in 98 and this time he was out for 2 games but I mean come on the whole French team were counting on him alone? thats not far.
I still remember in 98 when Iran beat US man they went crazy like as if they had won the cup, I guess they wanted to beat the US soo bad
All in all I just LOVE soccer/football whatever you want to call it. Watching the WC makes my blood flow and waking up soo early for it this year did pay off. Inshallah in 2006 I will be alive and kicking to watch and see what awaits in Germany!
“By Allah I long to escape the prison of my ego and lose myself in the mountains and deserts , these sad and lonely people tire me” —Rumi
Best Forward: RONALDO (Brazil)
Best Midfielder: EMRE (Turkey)…a little length but a big heart
Best Defender: CAFU (Brazil)
Best Goal Keeper: FRIEDEL (Usa)…he is our student, I mean graduated from Galatasaray team
Best coach: METSU (Senegal)…He will be coach in Gaziantepspor in turkey next year.
Most exciting team to watch: SENEGAL
Best showman: RIVALDO (brazil)
Team that lost respect: BRAZIL
Team that won your heart: SENEGAL and TURKEY, the lions of africa became champion in our hearts
Luckest team:
Most exciting match: Turkey-Brazil (semi final)
Biggest flop(team): ARGENTÝNE
Biggest flop(player): HAKAN SUKUR (Turkey)
Luckiest team: GERMANY…with a bad football in final match
Unluckiest team: PORTUGAL
Teams that you wanted to win: Turkey-Korea-Senegal-Ireland (If only there were 5 cups and they shred them)
OK, once again why have people lost respect for Brazil?
Just because they gave player like Rivaldo another chance of playing, and now they loose respect.
Like if Wasim Akram who sold his country out, didn't our team gave him another chance of playing.
No country in the world will ever let his star player {who btw has 5 goals in this tournament more than that over rated Hakan Sukur) let go when they are competing in the biggest sports event.
