Seriously - what do you do with it? I’m going to Pakistan tomorrow (aaaggghhh!!) and need to decide on my set for my wedding. I looooove this one:
But wondering what am I gonna do with the jhoomar afterwards if I get it made? Earrings, necklace and even tika you can wear again, but what to do with jhoomar?
So just wondering if you guys have any idea if I could made a funky piece of jewellery out of it after my wedding, or is it just gonna sit there for years on end and never be used???
Re: what do to do with a jhoomar after the shaadi?
you could turn it into a different piece of jewellery too if you get a gold one. most of the jhoomar's i've seen on brides are the silver with gold paani on them ones because they don't get re-worn so it doesn't make sense to spend so much on a gold jhoomar.
Re: what do to do with a jhoomar after the shaadi?
Gold is very expensive, i would say get a gold plated one. You can get the jeweler to make it as they usually don't mind making a plated one because you'll be spending money on the other stuff..
An other thing is that you can actually borrow this stuff! i know i few that borrowed the bindya/jhumar from the place they got the jelwery from and then retured it the next day.. You will have to pay for the jhumar and when you return it you will get your money back!
Re: what do to do with a jhoomar after the shaadi?
you could use it as a hair ornament ie stick it on top of your braid/ in the middle of your bun! My friend recently reused her wedding jhoomer in that way at her little sister's wedding. it looked really nice!
Re: what do to do with a jhoomar after the shaadi?
Im getting all my wedding jewellery in gold mum doesn’t like the idea of gold plated i guess i’ll keep it as a memory and hand it to my daughter or dil thats the only thing i can think of or maybe sell it in the future if the gold price gets even higher
Re: what do to do with a jhoomar after the shaadi?
wear it at the wedding and then recycle it and get something else......not only will the gold price be higher you can have a new piece of bling for free :D
Re: what do to do with a jhoomar after the shaadi?
By the way, in my naniyaal, all the bahus wore nani's jhoomer. Then I started the tradition for all the granddaughters to wear it. We didn't have our own made (unless it was part of the bari). I think it's nice to keep it as something that can be shared in the family and worn whenever appropriate. That way everyone doesn't have to worry about this same question.
Personally I'm not wearing a jhoomar. Butttt if I was to get one I'd keep it and wear it later at larger functions just on its own. Jodha Akbar style. I like the one you've picked but if you get it without red beads and just pearls, that way it will go with more things post wedding.
Re: what do to do with a jhoomar after the shaadi?
Use it as an earing I know I sound daft but I came across a pair of earings which were designed like jhoomar and could be worn both ways Its called jhoomar-baliya, try looking for them. Here’s a pic
