I’ve haven’t been to college here but yes boys and girls do interact in unis, colleges and schools. Eating together is common and so is dating. Everything happens here except for public displays of affection (does happen but rare).

thanks rizla86, i was just wondering because i have always wanted to visit

the designer clothes from bargello are amazing looking. just the embroidery on a couple are spectacular so a day shopping in pakistan is a dream of mine :p but would a girl usually put on a niqaab and roam the streets or does a girl have to have a male escort to go out at night in the big cities or would I see girls and boys just hanging out and chilling together

You seriously need to broaden your source of news if niqaab is all what you can imagine when thinking about the women in pakistan.

Seems like this is your first time visiting Pakistan. In the larger cities (Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad) you're safe to go out shopping on your own. You can drive, eat out, go wherever you want, I think you'll be surprised, you hardly ever see burqas/niqaabs in Lahore. Just don't stay out too late (beyond 10 or 11) as a precaution.

Really? that's weird, when I was in pak I saw hijabis/niqabis everywhere, shopping, driving, etc... I did go out shopping a few times alone (i was dropped off though--never took riksha by myself), and I was safe, but it was just so weird that I'd never do it again....

True... I'd say they play ankh mattak-ka and cyber mattak-ka while 'eating out'. That would be 90% of the 'fun' lives.

You do see them but they are a minority, I'm talking about the main shopping areas in Lahore like the Liberty market, Defence Y-block/H-block markets, MM Alam Road, Mall of Lahore etc. The inner city markets are probably different.

hmmm maybe... i know i saw a few women dressed in jeans/dresses with tights in Y-block...but for the most part, i still say majority of women dress in duputta/hijab/niqab. i went mostly in fortress, liberty, defense and gulberg area

I think jeans are getting popular, but then lahore has always been more liberal compared to the conservativeness of Karachi.

Actually I've always thought its the other way round..lol.

dupatta yes, since most women wear shalwar kameez dupatta is automatically a part of that but really hijab isn't common at all.

go out watch movies, go shopping, go for bowling or eat out. there is alot to do :)

boy!!! I dont klnow which pakistan you all go to …but most cities in pak are very open…ppl in shalwar kamise dont mostly have duppata on head and jeans are worn in other cities too…gujranwala,sialkot,wazirabad gujrat jhelum etc everybody talks about pak as if it is 3 cities wide…uff :smack:

people are more conservative than the west but again we have teen pregnancies out of wedlock,gays,lesbians,rape all the negative things that happen anywhere
we also have awesome cafes,restaurants clubs,respectable ppl chillin(if u know what I mean)and lots of places where families go out together
