What do Iraqi people want????

As I said before it all boils down to what the masses of Iraq want. So far there are no signs of popular uprising in any city. You all have seen the red carpet welcome UK/US recieved. John Burns of New York Times was on TV a few minutes ago he is in Baghdad and said make no mistake Saddam Hussain is in absolute control. They plan to drag this war into summer where the temperature will be 120 degrees. I sense this could be to use CW when the enemy is most vulnerable but that is my observation and I believe its a great defensive move but I could be wrong.

Based on what you have seen or heard especially about Iraqi public opinion what do you think?

Do you really think this war is about what the Iraqi ppl want?? Here is a simple repudiation of the American claims of bringing democracy to Iraq. If today there were free fair elections in Iraq, the 60% or over Shiite population will elect a pro-Iranian govt which US will never accept.
And now I am reading that there are huge problems emerging between the exiled Iraqi democratic parties and the american authorities about their role (if any) in the future of Iraqi politics. MAybe a little lesson of history is in order here: In 1920 when the british had invaded the entire of Iraq and established their admin which excluded the predominantly Sunni Arab, Shiites and Arabised Turkish from the ottoman state, the latter revolted causing massive british casualties. Lesson: Even though the ppl of Iraq might not accept Sadaam or the Baath party as their leaders, but they will resist any foreign invasion

Oh I agree with you, not for a second the thought crossed my mind that this war is for Iraqi people.. the yanks can fool their own not the world. If today they have free and fair election in Saudi OBL would be running the show. The ground realities have not penetrated the thick skull of the yanks they keep on beating the BS drum of libating Iraqi people.

Well some learn the easy way some the hard will find out when the smoke from their bombs clear. Today one of their missile killed 20 civilans reported by Guardian and they expect a red carpet welcome.

Here is another tid-bid

They are fighting for their independence, not Saddam
Resistance to the US-British occupation will not end with this regime

Then may the ummah stick to Saddam.

Sorry for saying that. I don't want my ummah dying to help people that don't want or need help.

Especially if it causes unnesscesaary death.

Oh. Thats been decided. I won't vote for him again ever. I didn't in the first place.

And I don't want my ummah to die because they don't have a means to get away. OR die in the mud because they wanted to help.

Or because they believed they were doing right and faulted to a dictator.
