What dish makes your Eid-Ul-Adha meal?

Not long until Eid is InshAllah here!

I’m looking for inspiration for my Eid menu this year. So what makes your Eid meal?

What dish reminds you of Eid?

Our usual menu is:
Gosht pilau
palak gosht handi

kebabs
aloo tikkis
keema rolls

A traditional sweet (kheer usually)

So it’s pretty simple…but I want to something different. I know it’s Qurbani time thus a lot of meat on the menu. Any other suggestions or recommendations would be great!

We are looking at starting our own traditions as we now have a little girl (who is 11 months old) so we want her to have foods that she can link to Eid etc too like many do.

Also, if you don’t have much family around (which we don’t) how do you go about making Eid extra special? Our local Masjid doesn’t hold any events/meals etc so that isn’t an option for us to attend.

Our day currently consists of: Eid Prayers, breakfast, opening presents, dinner. That’s it!

Re: What dish makes your Eid-Ul-Adha meal?

Our menu is simple and yummy. Fresh kaleji phipra cooked in yogurt and spices, this is supposed to be breakfast lol because all men of family eat qurbani ka gosht, etc as a first tging of the day..and then they get back to 'work' of cutting up the meat, weighing and makiing packets for relatives, poor, ownself, etc and then we all have a lunch of meat quorma, that too cooked with minimum masalay because we have experienced that qurbani kay meat ka apna maza hota hai..it needs least spices to taste its best.we have fresh naan, simple brown rice, green chutney and imli plum chutney in the menu followed by freshly ,ade besan ka halwa ! Yumm !!

Re: What dish makes your Eid-Ul-Adha meal?

My dad usually cookes either nihari, or baked chicken with mushrooms, or biryani for Eid. He enjoys cooking and often makes these dishes on the weekends too.....but it's sort of like a tradition to have either of them on Eid as well.

Re: What dish makes your Eid-Ul-Adha meal?

For me, sivayyan remind me of Eid...or zarda.

Our usual menu is pretty simple because most of the time we eat out for breakfast/brunch that day. We make one big dish like nihari or payye.

Re: What dish makes your Eid-Ul-Adha meal?

we usually have kaleji/gurda seeKh right after the Qurbani. at lunch we have sivaiyaaN for dessert and qorma, shaamii kabaab, yaKhnii pulaao, kalejigurda/narKhara saalan, sookhii dhuli maash kii daal with taRkaa with roGhnii roTii/rumaalii chapaatii/sheermaal...also sometimes we have shaahii TukRe or shakarqand/motichoor laDDoo kheer :)

Re: What dish makes your Eid-Ul-Adha meal?

For me it has to be kofte andeh! Eid is not complete without that dish in our house :D

Must haves ...
Bhuni kaleji, quorma, pulao, seekh kabob, dhai barrey, qimami siveyiaan ...
Other dishes fill in/round out the menu ... But these are musts on eid day.

I see a lot of you guys do kaleji/gurday for Eid...thats pretty cool. I haven't had those in a while...might ask mom to do those this year!
