what digital camera should i buy

i wanna buy a digital camera. i’ve never bought my own camera since like ever. no clue what’s good and reading online reviews aren’t helping. here’s what i want…someone tell me what to buy:

$ 100-150 range
decent brand (kodak, nikon, canon…something reliable)
reliable merchant (walmart, ritz, sears).
red eye redux.
at least 25 pics in the memory thingee
good battery
easy to use (like digital camera for dummies model)
zoom
black/white/color options
lens cover (just found out after researching the kodak cx 6200 it has no lens cover…what’s up with that?)
and whatever gear i need to upload pics to the computer has to come with it…i don’t mind adding that to the cost…but i don’t want to buy separate pieces. why? because thats ridiculus. a camera should come with everything.

ok people, now focus (camera pun intended).

brands that you listed will only let you get a 2 mega pixel camera in that price range.. either you go high on the price or settle with a less known brand (which is not a bad option.. since good brands dont always mean good products) and atleast get a 3 mega pixel camera in my humble opinion.. main reason cause with 3MP you can go upto 8*10 print and it will still give you the feel of a 35mm picture.. if you plan on going higher than that in print size get more than 3MegaPixels in your digital camera.. but if you do find out something decent in your price range dont forget to post it here so we can benefit too .. :)

thanx for the advice. i'll keep that in mind.

u can look at A70's old brother A60.. it can be found for a little over $150, but it's a great buy.

I have a canon S110 which I use for work.

I have tried Sony and Panasonic models but none of them compared to Canon when it comes to good clear pictures.

Very user friendly!!

I highly recommend Canon.

How are you bharysh? :)

ghonchooooooooo! wsup guppie?!

ok so sony and canon are now in the picture...geez.. what price range am i heading for now? someone told me that 3-400 is a comfortable zone...omg..what comfort is that just for a one second snapshot?
not worried about $$ becuz i dont pay rent and yada yada...but still, might as well get a video camera then!

the older brother is cheaper? owwh, how sad. :frowning:

:hehe:

no use SEARCHING and DECIDING about ur 1st ever digicam :smack:
it all adds up to confusion

get a cheaper model - get used to the terminology - the feel - the use
blah blah blah - sony cannon olympus … all the same

then promote urself to a better model based on your preferences
the older one can be given away in charity :halo: or used as 2nd cam

Bharysh: It's best if you go for a 3mp+ camera. It'd be wise if you buy a dock with the camera, else you'll frequently have to replace the batteries. Also, memory sticks are a separate expense.

Although I know 2mp digital cameras are almost obsolete. Do I stand a chance of selling it on ebay or elsewhere? If yes, then how much would I be able to sell it for?

IMHO... 2mp cameras aren't at all bad. It's just that my sister wants to sell her 2mp HP digital camera and get a 3mp digital camera.

yep u can sell pretty much anything on e-bay.... over here the 2mp by HP goes for around $100 new.. i have one sitting to be sold too..

Here’s a little digi-cam buying guide on HSN:

Here’s a 3 mp Mustek @ amazon for under $150:

It does both stills and video plus it can act as a webcam. Its not the greatest but does a decent job. Only bad thing is that it doesn’t have a flash.

Get an 11Mega pixel Canon SLR, and forget the rest. :k:

well it’s a top performer.. just 2MP which is why the A70 ‘took over’ as the budget choice.

Olympus has some nice models out there plus Canon will be completely revamping their lineup of digital P&S following announcements in Feb.
