My sis wore a shalwar kameez on the mehndi....Anarkali type on the barat. And on the Valima long gown (on my wedding)...
I'm not married, but last year for my cousin brother's wedding I wore a dark rose pink chanderi silk suit - the nikah was just before lunch & it was very hot so I wanted something light I could wear comfortably outside with the baraat. It was woven with heavy gold zari, borders & buti on all the pieces including salwar, & had a long shirt with 3/4 sleeves and a slim salwar (you have to with that sort of fabric).
For the reception I wore a sari - dark navy blue silk crepe, with gold kaam only (no color) on the blouse sleeves & bacak & heavy gold work for the border & pallu. I wore it seeda style (pallu in the front).
For mehndi I wore a olive green silk crepe churidar suit - plain churidar, with short sleeve, long slim shirt with dark maroon & gold print design, gold woven border & gold kaam all over the front & sleeves. The dupatta matched the shirt (olive green with gold & dark maroon print & gold kaam over it).
