What did you do with your designer wedding dresses or formals?

I have been thinking lately what do you brides do with your wedding dress esp. if they are expensive custom made bridals? Years ago I remember my cousins would wear their bridal dresses to multiple weddings. Now its considered so disrespect able for someone else to wear a bridal dress at a wedding or valima - its called UPSTAGING THE BRIDE ( a western concept).

So what do you do with that super expensive bridal dress? I know some brides sell it. I think selling it would have to be done within a year to keep with fashion. What do people do with designer dresses that they don’t want to repeat?

I honestly think that someone should start a business of selling or renting designer dresses. I’m sure there are tons of places in Pakistan and UK but I don’t really know of any places in Canada or America. Also I think there should be some designer who remake designer or higher end dresses to make them more contemporary to the current fashion so that these dresses don’t get wasted or just passed on.

What are your thoughts on this? Also please do give links of Facebook pages that sell or buy gently used formal wear.

I know a lot of people who wear their bridals again esp at family weddings. As long as you keep your jewelry and make up simple and don't wear the dupatta on your head like the bride then you aren't upstaging the bride at all. Of course I know some people go OTT and dress up like a bride all over again and that is rude. And in my family after we have work it a few times we donate it to the poor to use on their weddings. It's a good feeling to know you made a bride happy on her wedding day by giving your wedding dress which they never could've imagined owning
