I remember those.. and I always thought that I missed out on the last few of the series.. there is a possibility they just stopped printing them.. I remember the agonizing wait for the next few books.. it used to take months sometimes..

Re: What did u read growing up..
is this thread only about urdu stuff? i grew up reading a hell lot of enid blyton (this particular title called 'the three brownies,' was a favourite for a long time, famous five) a bit of nancy drew, later it was agatha christie. then there were tinkles (comics you get in india) and of course archies, which i still read, if one lands into my hands. Tintin. books fascinated me. It gave me the best kind of joy, even as a kid, when someone gave a me a book as a gift, or my parents bought one for me. i would cling to it and it would be one of my most cherished possessions.

Re: What did u read growing up..
so no one read Naseem Hijazi then? hmm :-/
I was hooked to his books as i was in 6th grade and read them "all" in about two years. Highly recommended for parent who want thier kids to know about islamic, umm better to say muslim history.
Along that I also used to read Maqbool Jahangir's Dastaan-e-Ameer Hamza.
Krishan Chander - could never forget his book "Ulta Darakht". One of the most amazing Fantasy + Sceince fiction i have ever read.
Qudrat Ullah Shahab - Shahab Nama
Ibn Insha
Banu Qudsia - Raja Gidh
All the credit goes to the school library where my dada abba was a head master.
and then:
Ibn-e-Safi (Imran series and Jsoosi Duniya)
Shafiq-ur-Rehman (no matter how many time I read his books, they are always fun to reed.)
Sabir Hussain Rajput - stories from his teenage life, when he and his friends used to hunt wild animals with thier hunting dogs in pothohar. was thrilling and fun to read. Heres a quote from one of his books i still remember.
"log samajhtay the key motor gadree huwai jahaz say bhe tez raftaar hai. Wajeh sirf itnee thee keh motor gadree nazroon say jald oojhal hojatee thee aur huwai jahaz door tak nazar ataa rehta tha"
Other then that Shikari, Shirkash, Inka, Hamzad, Ghulaam Rohai, Devta, Maut kay Sodager and a lot more. these were the series published in different digests.
Altogh I have'nt read a book in years :( but Ahmed Iqbal and Aleem ul Haqi are my favorite moden day writters. They both write for Jassosi Poblication's Suspense and Jassosi digest.
And i Stepped after.... reading Sadat Hasan Mantoo's Kaali shalwar and Asmat CHugtae 's Garam Lehaaf
LOL, Sadat Hasan Mantoo reminds me the Jootays i recieved from my dada on my behind shareef. Yeah, I have read him. But then that was just the first page of "Khirkee khol do" before the chitrol.
Abhee bhee yaad hay jab dadi amaan ney dada say chupkey garam paani kee botle bhijwaaee thee tikor karnay ko.
sigh, miss them both. :(
