:hehe: Sahi hai, sahi hai. lagey raho… yani keh qaim raho… yani keh bra-jamaan raho. umeed hai keh umeed say raho… umeed say hi to dunya qaim hai. Yeh umeed nahi hoti to insaan chaand par kaisey pohonchta? Umeed ko is tarha mat paleed karo. Yehi tumhara haal aik din tight karey gi. Umeed rakho, dua karo, koshish karo… agar kar saktey ho to… dil choTa mat karo… baaqioN ko meN kuch nahi keh raha. Insha-Allah umeed tumhari aik din keechaR meN say kaNwal kay phool ki tarha ubhrey gi aik shakal kay saath… aik khushboo kay saath… aik nazakat kay saath.

Well I do painting, read books (we live in books, they can be found every inch of our house), learn languages. Well I know almost 8 languages. Here is the list.
1: Urdu (not spoken but Urdu-e-Mualla)
2: English
3: Persian
4: Punjabi
5: Hindi (read and write)
6: Gurumukhi
7: Arabic
8: Saraiki

[quote:safiya]

Hello Everybody! Salam!
I am a recent joiner here. I belong to Sialkot Pakistan but have migrated to UK with my father, Research Scholar at the Cambridge University and live now at Cardiff Wales with my husband.
I am a bit religiously inclined being a daughter of a Maulavi, but not a bigot.
I have also a great love for books and languages. These are:-
1) Punjabi, my mother tongue.
2) Urdu as taught upto B.A in Punjab University.
Urdu-e-Mualla was the historic name of this language when it was spoken in the most pristine form in the end 18th and early 19th centuries in the Red Fort* mainly and **generally **in the walled city of **Shahjahanabad Delhi and has since seen a lot of changes and has long been forgone. Wonder how our friend OMG still speaks it! I must hear her speaking it some day indeed!*
3) Persian. Basics taught by my father. Speech, reading and writing with a diploma from Khana Farhang e Iran (Islamabad).
4) Arabic. Only the basics of Lisaanul Fuss'haa of the Holy Quran and Shihah Sittah (Hadith) from my father. I do not know modern Arabic.
5)Deutchz (German). Beginners Certifiction from Max Mueller Institute London.

I have also mastered a few other languages that are for computers only, like Visual Basic, SQL, Visual C++ and J++. My main area in computers is SAP R3.
I work as a DBA for an English MNC that implements SAP.

I am also very interested in Medieval World History and Islamic History. My hobbies include calligraphy (Arabic & Persian Naskh and Nastaleeq forms only) and kasheedakari including Punjabi Phulkari and Afghan Paarcheh Baafi.

I love to hear ghazals and read them too. My favourite poets are Amir khusro, Hafiz, Rumi and Muairi in Persian and Ghalib, Daagh, Iqbal, Faiz, Parveen Shakir, Nasir Kazmi, Ahmad Faraz in Urdu. My favourite singers are Ustad Amanat Ali, Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Muhammad Rafi, Jagjeet Singh, Begum Akhtar, Malika Pukhraj, Lata Mangeshkar, Nur Jehan, Musarrat Nazir, Iqbal Bano, Farida Khanum, Nahid Akhtar to name but a few.
I am not seriously attracted to Urdu poetry but rather to Urdu prose.
So that is a mouthful. Is it not?
