"What could you possibly be busy with?"

One of the sentences/questions I hate the most…chances are, if you’re a stay at home wife/mother, you probably hear this alot.

WheN I was working, I was super busy (and I loved it). Now that I’m not working (but still looking for a job), I have a lot more free time. But I still find that time is flying by way too fast. It’s like I wake up, blink, and it’s time for bed again!
If I really had absolutely nothing to do, time would go by alot slower.

Anyway, I hate when people ask this. What do you say to shut them up?

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

Tell them you're busy enjoying all the free time that they don't have.

I want the school year to end already.

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

Tell them about how much sleep/food/sex you're having, and how you are not out there having to walk around in the summer heat.

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Followed by creepy wink and grin. And then walk away.

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

If i am annoyed by them i tell them i was busy having sex.................shuts them up instantly.

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

having a life

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

"Duh! Spending the hard earned money of working people like yourself. Like it grows on trees."

And you have to say it like Hilary from Fresh Prince. LOL....that would so get under their skin.

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

I like Reidi gul's someback the best :D

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

...

or you could be spending your time here on GS trying to figure out what to say in response to a question like that.

"What could you possibly be busy with?"

'what could you possible be busy with?'

'BUSY WITH MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS' lol ok that's a bit rude. Try 'too busy relaxing'. That'll really wind up their goat!

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

"I think of ways to play pranks on the neighbours and watch Star Plus dramas all day long so I can learn to be evil to my MIL"

Gosh.

Re: “What could you possibly be busy with?”

‘am working on this incredible thing that would possibly change the world’

Might leave some gawking at you and others just bewildered . At least they would shut up :hehe:

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

just be like the rabbits are eating the cows and i'm stopping the gargoiles from opening the 11th dimension and come into our world and then be like i'm just kiddding pause about the rabbits and enjoy their face

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

STAHM/W are not the only ones who hear this. i hear this allllll the time. and i work and study.

Re: “What could you possibly be busy with?”

Even with a full-time job, I get asked this about my weekends often. :frusty:

There is an acquintance (who I never liked) who would always ask me crap like this when I saw her. Several months ago I finally told her I’m thinking about getting into BDSM and am super busy “researching” the lifestyle. Then I asked her if she was interested in joining me the following weekend to look at some toys.

For some reason, she never again asked me what I was busy with after that conversation. :halo:

Re: “What could you possibly be busy with?”

^ That is strange!
You’d assume (well I do) that if a person is working full time, their weekend is left for socializing/house chores/errands/relaxing, so why constantly ask. :smack:

i cant answer you now, i have to run to the store cause i ran out of batteries again

by that I mean batteries in cordless food processor.

That is what I would say if I was a stay at home wife.

Re: "What could you possibly be busy with?"

who are these people and do they live in the real world. Do they understand the never ending cycle of housework.

Re: “What could you possibly be busy with?”

I’d assume the same thing! But I know a few people who seem surprised when I say that I was busy in the house or with errands over the weekend (in response to their inquiry). I dunno about others but I don’t have the time, money, or the interest to do “fun stuff” every frigging weekend!
