blue smoke? wtf? what could this possibly be, they say it isnt a volcano, but what the hell gives out blue smoke?

PESHAWAR: Aftershocks and emission of blue smoke from the mountains and constant blasts has terrorized the entire population of the remote Allai valley in Battagram district and is forcing villagers made homeless by the October 8 earthquake to evacuate to safer places.

Brigadier Khalid Mahmood Ahmad, head of the Pakistan Army’s forward base in Battagram, confirmed that he seen the blue smoke emitting from the mountains after flying over the Ganthar and Battila villages in a helicopter Monday. “After receiving reports, I decided to see for myself whether all this true. I can now confirm that smoke is indeed coming out from the mountains and one can hear the sound of frequent blasts. We have made plans to evacuate the villagers in case of an emergency,” he told The News from Battagram town.

It was green smoke before. They confirmed that it was just dust from all the land sliding. Someone opened a thread on this before too. Some geologist was also saying that in case of a volcano erupture steam is let out first and the sounds are from the plates rubbing against eachother.

Waisay, nothing to worry about its not a volcano or something, apprently due to the earthquake the hill top has moved about 2 meters from its place. If you check the link in the thread above, then locals say it is something common for that area.

A senior officer of the Pakistan Army told the television that it was not a volcano that was emitting ash but a phenomenon that erupted after the occurrence of the tremor.

According to locals, there is nothing strange about the emissions, he added.

But it is significant that this has never surfaced in the media before despite the fact that the local population calls it a normal occurrence

It was light green smoke before
H2S ( Hydrogen Sulphide ) is light green colored if I remember correctly. And presense of sulphur in gases evolving from the earths crust show underlying magma. There could be a possible volcanic activity ( God forbid).
