Point 1.. Unlikely!!! Solving Afghanistan they can not afford to create a bigger monster in the shape of Pakistan. A much bigger nation with many times bigger global presence.

Point 2… Unlikely!!! If they just wanted to test waters.. they should have done something to damage control the situation. The reaction took by Pakistani government was mainly due to media, public, army pressure.. they would have done something to neutralize the effects in the aftermaths of the situation. I don’t think they desire status quo, and were just testing the waters..
