Re: What cooking oil to use?

Re: What cooking oil to use?
I don't use oil mostly coz i do not eat desi food much but i buy canola or olive oil for baking and stuff. So don't know ya can buy Canola oil...
Re: What cooking oil to use?
I was watching a documentary and according to that documentary animal fat is healthier compared to oils extracted from seeds or produced through artificial methods.
So, your desi ghee and fat from animals is actually healthy stuff.
Re: What cooking oil to use?
its all a bit politicized, and muddled up. but lard has a ton of monosaturated fatty acids, which is good. but it also has a lot of saturated fat.
butter/ghee is worse than lard. but is still healthy if it is from grass-fed cows as the butter from such a source has CLAs, closely tied to omega-3s. butter from cows fed on seeds is pretty bad for you.
in the end, my gut-feel is moderation and keeping it as close to natural as possible is the best option.
