**US doesn’t want peace in Pakistan, says Nisar
**
ISLAMABAD: Questioning the sincerity of US towards Pakistan, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said America doesn’t want peace in the country.
Nisar made this statement while speaking to media outside the parliament after Friday prayers. He was responding to the recent drone strike in Hangu.
“How can we consider US as our friend after this drone strike,” Nisar questioned, adding that he fails to understand why Sartaj Aziz believed in US assurances.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Aziz had recently said that America has assured Pakistan that drone strikes will not be carried out during talks with the Taliban
Blaming US involvement in the country for all the chaos, the interior minister said it is time Pakistan decides between “honour and US dollars.”
He added that American financial aid has not brought any positive change in the country.

As if we were not already waggling in a sea of confusion, here comes Chaudhry Nisar with a brand new stand on drones and the US. The interior minister neither trusts in the US nor countenances its guarantees. The minister has come to believe that the US does neither want peace in Pakistan nor talks with the Taliban. He further states that the US officials wanted to sell the same commitments (as they did to Sartaj Aziz) to me, but I refused to buy their bond. The minister wondered as to how his colleague in the Foreign Office gave credence to the US utterance?
Ch.Nisar seems to be on a completely different page than his prime minister and his team. His stance seems to be more close to PTI than the Noon League. When Parvaiz Rashid says of the IK’s stance that the PTI chief wants to worsen Pakistan’s ties with the West while Nawaz Sharif wants to improve the relations, the information minister and the interior minister appear to be on a completely different wavelengths.
Media, on the other hand, seems to be siding with the prime minister, saying that the decision to choke Nato routes does not have a Plan B or Plan C. One wonders what kind of Plan Bs and Plan Cs Pakistan had when it blocked Nato supplies after Salalah tragedy?
While the prime minister is not willing to part with diplomatic courtesies, the drone drive seems to be heading deeper into the settled areas of the country. If it could be Hangu to target Haqaanis, why it cannot be Islamabad for the same reason? Mullah Naseeruddin Haqqani might not be alone staying in or around the capital.
