In a time when porn is easily accessible, girl friends are ready to go to any length, alcohol is available in abundance, how can one resist?

It's all about making a conscious decision and knowing the consequences of doing such things. Another thing that helps is who you associate with.

I always keep on thing in my mind that "**If u agree to do sin than find that place where is no God’. **Hope this will help u too. Offering Prayers and reading Qur’an is the best solution. :slight_smile:

one way could be .... anytime u see something immoral and it somehow starts to affect u .... u could start reciting "asthaghfirullah" ... again & again & again ..... reciting darood-shareef is another way

i do that regularly

when you are about to do something bad, just remember that nobody knows when s/he will die. and just imagine what if you die while doing the sin you are about to??? you will die in "halat-e-kufar" because you were doing that sin knowing ALLAH is watching you, but you still decided to do that... thats what i do, this scares the hell out of me, that is, if/ when i remember...

what if its late? and you have done something bad, well its never too late to repent and submit and ask ALLAH SWT for forgiveness, there is an ayat-e-mubarika, i dont remember the exact number, the summary is like when someone does something wrong, and immediately repents and feels sorry about it, ALLAH replaces his sins into rewards...

fasting, stress, lack of rest/sleep, the hereafter and eating less red meat ...

try more to be in the state of wuzu ....

When you consistently pray 5 times a day, for all the times your body bows down and performs sajda, you are calming your nerves as your blood rushes to your head, and you are releasing negative energy off your body. Consider the amount of sajdas when you are praying 5 times a day, that's a lot of peace you'd be adding to your life.

Trust me, your mind will clear itself on its own when you start praying 5 times a day, I promise you that. Those temptations will begin to bother you less and less very quickly.

sometimes when im tempted to do something " bad" i think of what my parents would think if they saw me right that moment, that usually does the trick for me , and some other times when im sure even my parents have no chance of finding out about my potential little "sins", i try to picture my embarisment on judgement s day, when my "sin list" will be revealed to not just my parents, but to every soul that has ever lived on this planet:) it works for me :D

Here's three questions - think objectively:

1) Why view porn? Ever tried watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos?
2) Why surround yourself with 'girlfriends'? Aren't there ladies who prefer to remain 'decent'?
3) Why consume alcohol? I go with root beer - ever thought how silly you'd look drunk?

It sounds weird to me, especially since Islam generally advocates concealing your sins etc? Not sure though.

so what is it though, temptations are all around us.

is it the fault of the temptation or is it our own fault that we don't have self control as human beings?

like the general thinking behind it is if porn tempts us, it's the fault of the internet, take away internet access, is that the right way of approaching this issue?

if somebody is using the internet to harm others, take away their internet access b/c it's the fault of internet or punish/teach the individuals responsible for doing horrible things to see their faults and to improve themselves or is it to teach ourselves to be stronger and resist temptation?

can somebody help me understand this...
