can i take chocolates, and baby powder milk in hand luggage…also other food items like dates and stuff…
also on a sep note- i have 2 infants travelling with 2 adults…i know emirates were really nice about our extra luggage, we were quite abit overweight, but she was nice enough to let it go because of the infant ( it was her stuff anyway), How are qatar airline ..and have you experienced them letting you off with few kg extra if you have an infant with you…
i dnt mind paying either before someone like jolie/brit chick start bhonging on about how im ripping og the british taxpayer- ( whcih is what most of her answers consist of, regardless of question asked) thanks
Nadz, here in the US, baby formula is allowed in hand carry. I have also hand carried chocolates and candy that I bought at the DXB airport without any problem...dates, I'm not sure about...I think fruits may not be allowed...call Qatar Airways and double check with them.
Regarding luggage, it depends on the person checking you in and how much extra you are over by. Just try to get to the check in as early as possible because they’ll most likely be more lenient then. No gaurantee though.
They cannot and shouldn't ask you to taste formula, at least not in the us.
I carried water, powdered milk etc through ...they tested water with a strip of paper on top of thermos and allowed me to take the water. I wastold that only prepared formula is allowed but had no problems with water.
Emirates is very strict about the luggage..we had our suitcases packed n checked at 23kg from the us but on our way back we had un even distribution..they made us open our suitcases n distribute stuff around even though we weren't over the limit at all. If you got away with that, then Qatar may not be a big deal either. In my personal experience, I have noticed them to be very strict about luggage weight in the beginning of check out..pretty lenient at the end.
I will suggest about not being over limit unless you are ready to pay the price per kg which usually is a lot!!!
*Emirates,IMO,is pretty strict about luggage weight.I am talking about traveling between USA & Pakistan so it might be different for you. They require each bag to weigh exactly within limits and do not let you take two bags even when one is below the weight limit allowed and the other is a lil more and the total weight still falls within the allowed limit.
*during transit at Manchester airport I was asked to taste baby formula.I had a 9 months old with me at that time and I was carrying both powdered and ready to use cans of formula.I was asked to taste both. This was in 2010.
I had nursery water in one of her bottles to mix formula in.They checked that too and made me taste it too.I
I have never had the same issue at any US airport.
Er, as far as I can recall, I've only mentioned your sponging off the state once and tha response was deleted by the mods.
But now you come to mention it......I take it that child benefit payments have all been set up ready to be paid directly into your bank account before leaving the country then. Would hate for you to miss out :p
