Salaam all,

This June I’ll be returning to Karachi to visit, and inshallah try to go to Peshawar as well. I was born and raised (for nine years) in Karachi but I’ve never been to Peshawar. So my question is what can I expect from Peshawar? Is it similar to Karachi? Are there any Do’s and Don’t Do’s? A friend of mine said to grow a beard and wear shalwar kameez and I’ll fit right in; is this true?

Peshawar is not some kind of backwater

Go as yourself... they will either love you or hate you depending upon your personality

not the way you look.

Peshawar is full of western people, people from the rest of Paks, people from the rest of the world...

I doubt anybody will find you offensive...

I was concerned about wearing western clothing in Peshawar and not so much the physical appearance.

Ive seen plenty of western clothes wearing boys/men in peshawar
they seemed fine to me

By western clothes Im talking about trousers and shirts rather than short skirts.. although who knows what one wears under ones burqa

  1. do not drink in public / get drunk and go in public

  2. do not say hi to girls above age 7. Say hi and give smile to girls bellow age 7. :)

May I ask what you want to do in Peshawar, cos I think there is nothing to see or do there, except if you have family or Friend to see
