what can i do

i am 4 months pregnant and now whateve i eat just sits in my stomach. i am not eating paraths etc, just simple slices with omelet, and i even cant digest it. I am thinking of starting green tea to help me out , anyother suggestion.

Re: what can i do

herbal teas are best avoided in pregnancy. your digestion slows down a lot in pregnancy
It is best to eat several small meals and take a prenatal multivitamin.

Re: what can i do

so what is it that you wanna do?.. dont wanna gain weight?..

Re: what can i do

^ FF obviously she will be gaining weight because she is pregnant. She means that she is unable to digest her food properly during pregnancy.

I agree with post 2.....eat several small meals and maybe walk for a bit afterwards.

Re: what can i do

I'll be surprised if you will be able to drink green tea.

Just try and walk if you can. Walking, or doing anything (honestly speaking) is hard in the first trimester. Now you are in your 4th month, things will start getting better slowly.

Re: what can i do

I would like to know the answer to this too, esp when even water just sits there in my throat or atleast thats how i feel.

With green tea, gshaheen, i would be careful not to drink too much beause of the caffeinne.

Also found this little article, hope it helps.

Re: what can i do

you are not supposed to drink green tea or herbal teas while you are pregnant.

i had a same thing when i was pregnenet , the best thing is try to stop eating egg for some day and start vegetable with roti,, that why help you for digest...and add some yogurt in ur daily food will help you, and fruit too,

plain green tea like we have back home in pak is not bad , we can take during pregnency half cup in a day, with little bit lemon juice will help to digest food

Re: what can i do

herbal teas..even regualr lipton tea contains contaminants like mercury and other metals, thus should be avoided.

Re: what can i do

gshaheen, have you tried OTC stuff like TUMS or Mylanta? The nurse at my mw’s office said i could take those. Here is a link that describes whats safe to take and whats not.

Re: what can i do

my advice for u to drink atleast 8 to 10 glasses of water daily .water is the best thing it fleshes out all disturbing elements from ur body n makes ur stomach feel clean n fresh...

Re: what can i do

Almonds are wonderful for heartburn and digestion. So is yogurt.

Re: what can i do

gshaheen

do you mean you are nauseous all the time? You feel a lump in the throat even several hours past eating? Has it been like this since the beginning of the pregnancy?

Re: what can i do

U TAKE PINEAPPLE SLICES AFTER EVERY MEAL
JUST WALK THEN REST

NOT TAKE HEAVY DIET
SLOW DIET IN EPISODES WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM

Re: what can i do

daily walk is best solution n eat small portions.

Re: what can i do

It'll get better in a couple of weeks now.The first trimester's over, so you should start feeling better soon.

If you are taking prenatal vitamins, the iron in them can be constipating. Some prenatal vits have the laxatives built in; if not you can try COLACE. It has no stimulant lax so it will not affect your baby, it will just pass thru your colon. Even if you are doing everything right, constipation is likely during pregnancy cuz progesterone slows the transit of stuff in your insides.

Re: what can i do

Small meals, regular walks, drinking enough water, fruits and vegetable, fiber, calcium and prenatals.

Strange things happen during pregnancy, but they all adjust themselves as you move along.

Stay active and don't stuff yourself with hard to digest foods.
