I have used Grey Nicolls Excalibre (2-7lbs). It is a straight Grade I English Willow bat made in Australia.
But lately, I have switched to heavier bats such as the UT Gold (2-13 lbs). The grounds here in the USA are heavy grassed and outfields are very slow. Heavier bats are good for airborne hitting.
I’ve always found Ihsans to have the bigger sweet spots and have been using an Ihsan Supreme (7lbs) english willow for quite some time now. Usuaully borrow a heavier bat from teammates on slower outfields. I prefer curves and so (exept for the Rapier), can’t stand Grey Nicolls- too straight and box-shaped for my liking.
Have my sights on a Kookaburra Ridgeback for next season though. Got a chance to stroke it in the nets for a friend who wasn’t playing this yr and it was aboluely . I tried buying it off him but he wouldn’t budge.
for some time i batted with DF (Duncan Farenlay), but bat that i admided most was CA Gold, the heavier version coz the light one was too light for my phsyique, coz of the low weight i used to go through the shot little quickly and meet the ball about couple of inches earlier and mistime the ball.
i use to switch between two bats depending on what kinda pitch i’m gonna play … the old one (which is serving me now for a while) is an AM 3lbs with thick edges and a thick bottom because most wickets in Germany are a coconut mat on gras resulting in very low bounce (u can play even short pitch on front foot ) … the 2nd one is a Kookaburra Bubble 5 Star (for use on pitches with normal to high bounce) … and as Diabola K said … it’s absolutly :kaboom: suberb to stoke the ball all around the park … If u r a player with good timing (and not relying that much on force) then the cover drives and pull shots will make u feel that there’s o need to run because it’s gonna reach the boundry for sure … Til yet i had three offers for the bat but i’m not give it away :o :o
as if batting with any particular bat was gonna get me more runs
and do u think someone who plays looooooooooow doen the order actually cares what bat he uses???
i wud benefit the team by the same amount of runs if i chose to bat without a bat, and just padded away a few legbyes
My personal bat is CA Gold .. excellent balance and good bat for playing timed shots since it’s a very light and thin bat. Not the best bat for slugging ..this season I have played with Gary Nichols, Ihsan and UT …. I also own a thick blade heavy Duncan-Farnely bat which has excellent power …Have never played with Kookaburra but planning to get one for next season.. for the money Ihsan offers the best quality bats, Gary Nichols are high in quality too but extremely over priced… I am planning to buy Ihsan Emperor for next season … recommendations?? Does any one has the website address for Ihsan ?
