What Baby Related Purchase.....

do you most regret making?

I know of some folks that purchased a play pen/yard and feel that they never really got their money’s worth from it.
There are those that got high-chairs and barely used them for more than a couple of months.
Some bought expensive sterilizers, pumps, etc.

What did you buy thinking it would be important but never really used?

Re: What Baby Related Purchase…

Diaper genie!! And too many clothes, esp the 0-3. Also the boppy pillow was like never used. A ton of toys too, most of which we never used. My kids were happier playing with pots and pans  Wipes warmer! Used once or twice only.

My baby sleeps in his playpen so it’s been worth it for us. High chair too, baby #3](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=3) here and we’ve used it for the past 4 years (got it for baby number 1), daily.
The pump was a life saver. If you’re a breastfeeding mom and can only get one pricey item, you NEED the to get the pump!!!

I bought a space saver Fisher Price swing thing for my daughter. She barely used it.And I later realized its seat was not too comfortable looking for an infant. It later served as a storage for her toys for a while before I gave it away.

High chair...it was a gift. But my kid didn't like being in it.If I were to buy something myself I would have bought the small seat that gets attached to the dining table chair.

All the ultra expensive Baby Einstein crap

Umbrella stroller for travel; we had to carry both the child and the stroller through airports.

Re: What Baby Related Purchase.....

OMG!....I remember the diaper genie......used it maybe for a month....that's it.....

Re: What Baby Related Purchase.....

Wipey warmer...who has time to refill it when faced with a leaky dirty diaper?

Diaper Genie - still have mine in a box...will see if I get to use it when we move but probably won't.

Bottle sterilizer - I do it myself and always have

Towel sets - I have so many

Blankets - I have so so so many. Some of them I use but a lot of the super fluffy ones that look like cupcakes end up irritating him so I have some that I will end up being regifted.

I'll be honest...at my shower the most useful things I got were off my registry and cash. Newborn shopping was nuts and that cash helped us so muchhh at that time. We had hospital bills and it was great not having to spend any money of our own for baby shopping.

I kept receipts of all the things we bought so anything that didn't get used was returned or exchanged for a more useful item.

Changing table. Only used it for a few months with my first. Didn't use it at all with number 2 or 3. Just changed them on my lap.

Steriliser. Found it too much bother. Easier to clean then use boiling water.

Baby bouncer. None of them would sit in it.

Re: What Baby Related Purchase.....

the changing table is another thing that I can't understand spending money on......the baby grows too quickly to continue changing them on it for very long.

Re: What Baby Related Purchase…

Yeah I don’t get changing tables either. I just change baby where ever … the couch, bed, floor, back seat of the car … :hehe:

Re: What Baby Related Purchase.....

The only I would say were the extra blankets. We only used a few. However, the diaper genie was a life saver. We bought an extra one when we moved in a two story house and kept one on each floor. Did not have a changing table for the first born as house was too small. The previous owners left theirs behind when we had our second baby in a different home and what a difference it made to my back! Used a wipes and lotion warmer both for my second baby. The lotion warmer was ok but the wipes warmer was worth it.

We didn't have a swing or high chair for baby number one but both came very useful for baby number 2. As for clothes, my first born had a blowout at every diaper change and I could not do laundry fast enough to keep up. Books had advised against buying lots of newborn clothes but 0-3 were too big on them both at first. Baby one was 7 lbs 12 oz and baby two was 8 lbs 5 oz. I bought newborn and even premie sizes for the first month or two.

Feeder warmer - only used it for 3 months
