How are you? I just came with the new topic that what are you predictions regarding man of the series? Who would you think will be? In my opinion, it is Muhammad Yusuf making many centuries involving double century and one was close to double century. Younis Khan is the second best player to perform better after him.
Re: What are your predictions for being man of the series in Pak vs Eng?
Walikum Assalam.
Believe it or not, I was thinking of exactly the same topic this morning as well, as to who will be the lucky player to capture that deserving award. Initial thoughts go straight to the name of Yousuf in the list, but there are other players as well who performed equally well, if not a bit much better. Available from the selection pool include -
** England Camp**
Ian Bell (three chanceless consecutive hundreds in the first three tests)
Andrew Strauss (Two tough battles - both in second innings)
Alastair Cook (along the same lines as above - except his centuries were scored in the first innings)
** Pakistan Camp**
Umar Gul (held the pace bowling trio together really well with the consistent mindset of attacking the batsmen and the repetition of delivering in roughly the same area about every time, which, in itself, reaped the rewards for him in the end. After Nazir was given his due chance where he exceled, Gul is the second bowler to have a strike rate of 35, leading the second-string bowling side having played all matches on tour).
Younis Khan (Reasons SuperMe Bhai mentioned).
My vote = Mohammad Yousuf, hands down! If anyone deserves the award after Yousuf, it is Ian Bell, in my personal opinion.
Re: What are your predictions for being man of the series in Pak vs Eng?
Should be Mohammad Yousuf from Pakistan.
For England, it will either be Bell or Strauss depending upon their performances in second innings.
No cook no panesar:hoonh:
Re: What are your predictions for being man of the series in Pak vs Eng?
Look at the number of Muhammad Yousaf's centuries. 200+, 190+, 115+ and few more runs adding up to around 600. MashaAllah, he deserves Man of the Series.
Re: What are your predictions for being man of the series in Pak vs Eng?
Mohammad Yousuf for sure.
Frankly, if anyone else gets it, I'd be a little worried.
But this is not to say that others didnt play well during the series (namely Cook and Strauss from England, and Younis Khan, Umar Gul for Pakistan).
Yousuf's innings have been so classy and fundamental. His innings have made me appreciate him even more.
Quite honestly, before this series, I held Younis Khan and Inzimam Ul Haq higher (in terms of stability and consistency), but Yousuf has consistently proven during this series that his shots aren't lucky or a one-time wonder.
Re: What are your predictions for being man of the series in Pak vs Eng?
mohammad yusuf has no competition as far as the man of the series is concerned....
he has so far scored 620 runs (next highest being strauss with 390) and wkts have been distributed with gul leading with 17 wkts, panesar and harmison equal on 16....
so i think its mohammad yusuf alone who stands a chance for that....
Re: What are your predictions for being man of the series in Pak vs Eng?
I wish i can find that thread where quite a few people said that Yousaf should be dropped and many others said that he is a FTB and he will fail in England and i said at that time that "Yousaf is a class player and mark my words that he will be declared Man of the SERIES" and my prediction was almost PERFECT because there is hardly anyone who deserves MOS more than Yousaf :)
