What are your most memorable world cup matches?

You can count from 1975

Mine are 1987 India Vs England match… which we lost  Still remember the T.V images of Gavaskar getting out,as we switched on the T.V.Bowled.For years I had kept a grudge for P***r Fan advertisement ,because after it’s advertisement Kapil Dev got out. :cb:

1992 India Vs Pakistan… Pakistan Vs Newzeland Semifinal.. Still remember Miandad advising Inzamam about gaps on the off-side,with such an authority, then Pakistan needing 10 runs from 7 balls,Moin Khan(?) hitting a six and a boundary by Miandad in the first ball of the penultimate over, all the team mates running over to the ground and embracing both the batsmen.Again the ill-fated S.A England match …and the Electronic screen displayed 36 off 1 ball … after rain.I think iot was Mc.Millen who had faced that ball and he was so angry and disappointed .English players all consoled him. There was a kind of streaking during that match but many of the players did not notice that ,as the match a was a real tight and tensed one.

1996 World cup..India Vs Pakistan in my beloved city ,Bangalore where we defeated Pakistan. But the ill-fated Semi-final.. Everyone knows how M.A took money from D.I and a certain victory was `sabotaged’. :kurzi: It was reported YEARS LATER that cell phone of M.A was swarming with phone calls from a Middle East Asian country, from where instructions were being made…

Somehow,I do not wish to name any of the 1999 World cup matches…

2003 World cup..Our loss to Australia…

2007 World cup.. Our pathetic loss to Bangladesh…

2011… Many matches…India’s tie with England,beating Pakistan,and the final

Re: What are your most memorable world cup matches?

No they werent, and in those days they were 60 overs per side as well. Scoring 100 in 30 odd overs was considered good.

Re: What are your most memorable world cup matches?

My memory is of the match between Pak and NZ at Trent bridge in 1983. Last over and NZ required 12 runs to win with 9 wickets down. Sarfraz Nawaz was bowling the last over. The first delivery was hit by J. Coney in the covers to Miandad, who misfielded the ball and turned around to run after the ball, the two batsmen took off for a run, Miandad turned around with the ball in his hand and threw it to the keeper who removed the bails and Pakistan had won. The beauty of this whole thing was that Miandad had not misfelded but pretended to have misfielded and as soon as he two batsmen took off he turned around and threw the ball to Bari who whipped the bails off. The incident has always stuck in my mind, brilliant piece of thinking on part of Miandad.
