What are your children's favourite books?

My little girl is only 14 months old and loves books, these are some of her favourites:

Dear Zoo - Rod Campbell

Where’s Spot - Eric Hill

The Thingamabob - Il Sung Na

The Tiger who came to tea - Judith Kerr

Little Bunny: Are you my mummy?

I like books - Anthony Browne

She gets really excited when I read them to her, she does all the actions and sound effects too…

What books do your children like…have you got any recommendations?

Re: What are your children's favourite books?

Hey, my daughter is 21months she's also a book lover 2 months ago i brought her the 'The very hungry caterpillar little learning library' Its 4 hardback books ( colours, animal sounds, numbers and words). The books are really cute easy to hold simple illustration. By reading these books with her she has learnt several new words. I highly recommend this, its fab.

Re: What are your children's favourite books?

Son love reading fiction/comic + he also loves to read Islamic history books.

and

daughter is more into fairies, doras, diegos, princess etc. we have to read these books for her off course other than picture books that she reads herself and then tell us a story. I must say she is a good story teller.

Re: What are your children's favourite books?

I will have to check out some of the titles here. My 2 year old loves her sesame street board books (a set of 4) and especially likes picture books with touch and feel animals, colors, etc. She likes to point at them and repeat what everything is. When she was younger (like 8 or 9 months old) she loved "reading" my Marx and Durkheim course books, lol.

Thank you for posting this thread. It's very helpful for new moms like me!! :)

Re: What are your children's favourite books?

I think reading to your children is sooo important it helps them to speak, understand, read and appreciate books from an early age. The very hungry caterpillar is also one of my daughter favourites but i will definitely buy "I love you through and through" as it sounds like a favourite for a few of you so it must be good.

Also Rod Campbell's "I won't bite" and "It's mine" are really good too with surprise endings!

Re: What are your children's favourite books?

Jez Allborough books are really funny. My kids love them. "Duck in the Truck" is hilarious for the little ones AND for the parent reading them!!

Re: What are your children's favourite books?

One of my daughter is a Dr Suess Fan. The other one like Eric Carle.

Some of their favs are

The foot book
Pup in Cup
Ten Apples up on top
Go Dog Go
It's not easy being a bunny
Are you my mother

Re: What are your children's favourite books?

All the books by Elsa Beskow, Daniela Drescher, Jill Barklem. These books have lovely illustrations and magical stories and suitable for ages 0-12. Besides these, my boys love listening to The Famous Five Series and also E. Nesbit's The book of dragons.

Re: What are your children's favourite books?

We're going on a bear hunt - classic! Just celebrated it's 25 years. There's a video of the author performing it online and it's amazing.

The Gruffalo - Another classic

The Jolly Postman and Each peach, pear plum- classic

In fact, anything by Janet and Alan Alberg

I love love love The tiger who came to tea.

I also love the Pigeon books by Mo Willems (sp) He was a writer for Sesame Street and these books are SO funny.

Meg and Mog books are good for the little ones too

Oh and Five minutes peace by Jill Murphy

Re: What are your children's favourite books?

I bought 'We're going on a bear hunt' today (the special edition one with a gorgeous box cover) i seem to have completely missed this book in my childhood so i'm very excited to take it home tonight and read it to my daughter!

Next on my list is 'The Gruffalo' i didn't get this today as i thought it had too many words for my 15month old and even though i will be reading it to her....but i think it will be perfect for her in a few months.
