What are you willing to do?

For the people of Haiti…

Here’s what one department in my college is willing to sacrifice in order to raise funds!!

DEPARTMENT OF ------------ FUNDRAISING EVENT
‘Hair for Haiti’ featuring Comedian Jon Kenny!
Tuesday February 9th 12.20-2pm --------------

Year three students of -------------- in the Department of ------------- have organised a fundraiser in aid of the people of Haiti. ‘Hair for Haiti will take place in the ---------------- on Tuesday February 9th from 12.20 to 2pm and all are welcome to attend.

Student Cormac ------------- has volunteered to have his curly locks and his ample beard shaved by the comedian John Kenny of Dunbelievables fame. Paul --------------, a lecturer in the Department of the --------------- will also have his head shaved. Several male students from a cross section of departments and a range of sporting teams have agreed to have their legs waxed as have Conor -----------, Donnacha ---------------, Martin -------------- and Michael --------------- who are all lecturers from the School of -----------------------------.

Funds are being raised through sponsorship cards which are available from Event 3 students or from Caroline ------------- in ---------------- (email ID). Donations however small or large will be accepted at the entry to the ---------------- on the day. Further funds will be generated on the basis of “pay per strip”. Pay €2 to pull a wax strip off a student’s leg and €5 to pull a wax strip off a lecturer’s leg. There will never again be such an opportunity to inflict pain on your lecturers!! All waxing will take place under the supervision of qualified beauticians.

------------------------- year three students are also responsible for organising the ------------- Ball. This year €1 has been added to the price of each ticket for the people of Haiti.
All proceeds will go to the Irish Red Cross, an organisation which was the victim of bogus collectors in ------------------- recently. The students feel that for this reason the Irish Red Cross is the most deserving beneficiary at this time.

Looking forward to your support next Tuesday, Feb 9th 12.30-2pm in the ----------------------

Many thanks

C---------- Murphy

So what can you sacrifice?? I was watching peace tc yesterday and dr. zakir naik was saying that the best charity is given in the form of things you love e.g. its good that you give an old, torn pair of jeans to charity but its best that you give away your new one! I really feel for the people of Haiti but at the same time it hurts me to think that no one cared as much about Pakistan. Even google is raising funds for Haiti! And Pakistan had to basically beg other countries for supporting the earth quake victims!

Back to the email… I am definitely going to attend this event!!! ; )
