What are you reading?

Did you cry?

Almost. It really shakes you up to the realization of the impermanence of this life and the futility of our worldly desires.

Has somebody read "The White Tiger" by Arvind Adiga? The book won the Booker prize last year. The author has worked very hard on each and every sentence. It is a work of literature that deserves some merit but I found it lacking in emotions and absolutely monotonous. In my opinion, it did not deserve to win the Booker.

Re: What are you reading?

Night Watch Series. Set in present day Moscow, a small number of citizens with supernatural powers called Other, owing allegiance either to the Dark or the Light. each side keeping a close eye on the other’s activities around the city. story told by a main character Anton, who starts out as a low level other and ends up with a responsibility to save the world. All through the series pretty interesting twists and unexpected turns. Interesting how good and evil keep an eye on one and other and in a way keep a balance of the two in check. 4 novel in this series so far, night watch, day watch, twilight watch and last watch. Interesting read for fans of fantasy/scifi.

I have a few all time classics available in PDF/Word written by the following writers:

James Allen
Russel Conwell
Khalil Gibran

Anybody interested in reading them for free should contact me through a PM but please bear in mind that since I don't have 25 posts on the forum as yet, I am not allowed to send a PM. I shall have to reply to your mails through the forum.

Re: What are you reading?

I have started Obama's autobiography "Dreams from my father" so basically read his book and "Veronica Decides to Die" side by side. Since I have started my internship therefore not getting too much time for reading. :(

Yes, I mean he was accused of homosexuality and was even jailed for it. Still, how does that reflect on his books? He was witty, very clever and I love most of his works. Especially, The Importance of Being Earnest.

No one has been reading much?
Currently reading, How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents by Julia Alvarez. I am a few chapters in, so far so good. It is about a Latino family that move to the states. They have four daughters and each chapter concentrates on the life of one of the daughters. It reminded of of Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club, meaning the format the story is told in.

Re: What are you reading?

Recently read the novel by Albert Camus, named The Outsider. And there is another book that i'm reading that i'll recommend to all struggling artists, its title is "The Artist's Way" by Julia.
