Yes, I am a big fan of Khaled Hosseini's books ! I read A Thousand Splendid Suns in french (" Milles soleil splendides), this book is very touching ! The writing of Hosseini is very poetic, very melancholic, soulful and hopeful! I think that Khaled Hosseini is always objective in his books and that is very rare in documents and books about Aghanistan in general ! I was touched by Amir and Hassan fate and I was touched again by Mariam and Leila story !
When you read this kind of books, you say " sun doesn't shine on everybody, how lucky I am".
So, I guess, I am the only one who actually hated A Thousand Splendid Suns. To me it was a rehashing of the same formulas that worked in A Kite Runner. The similar stoning scene, the same evil Taliban-sympathizers as the villians with not even an OUNCE of goodness in them.
I am new to this forum. I have written a book which is going to be published inshallah by the end of Feb/early Mar. It is available on the internet and for the past few days I have been trying to paste the URL here but whenever I try, the message I get is that I need to have at least 25 messages posted on the forum before being allowed to paste a url. Sorry folks, but if you are still interested, you can try world wide web dot bookhabit dot com slash book slash 1448 slash NEITHER-A-JUST-WAR-NOR-JUST-A-WAR

I wasn't too impressed, either. Nothing new.
Oh by the way has anyone read "the reluctant fundamentalist" by hamid something...
The other day I was at my campus bookstore and I saw that book now being used as a text book for english lit course.
So any reviews?
Read it - I felt like it was a slap for the Americans and their thinking.
