Is his writing style very British? Or has he dumbed it down to make it accessible for all?

Damn thing nearly killed me.... it said to put in 4 whole "uncut" jalapenos and I thought.... nah, that won't cut it... I cut the damn things and put in the salan. Oh it’s very easy to read, he doesn’t come across as the typical British imperialist in any way… 
In fact his book is th esort of thing Che Guavara could read and laugh along to… well worth it.

I just started reading Burnt Shadows by Kamila Shamsie. I've enjoyed her other books, but this one is a little slow.. has anyone here read it and liked it??

watched the movie was decent; but I loveeeeeeeeeeee Reesie and Pattinson so it a treat for the eyes.
