Re: What are you reading?
I'm reading Beneath My Mother's Feet by Amjed Qamar........about a family's struggle in Karachi.
And I've also checked out Ten Questions...........which is the book Slumdog Millionaire was based on. I happened to come upon it by accident in the library and decided to pick it up. I like comparing movies to book. And I like the surprise element of picking up random books from the library. :)
I just finished reading New Moon for the first time.
Re: What are you reading?
louis macneice's autumn journals. loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I just read Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper - what a tearjerker. I'm pretty sure they've made a movie that's coming out and re-issued the book in advance of the movie release.
I'm planning on looking into her backlist.
whats her face, cameron diaz is in it

I am pretty sure that the movie Slumdog Millionaire was based on the book Q&A by Vikas Swarup. Unless you are talking about something else.
I am currently reading my kids reports that I have written.
Verdict: A load of tripe!
Re: What are you reading?
Just started Obama's 'Audacity of Hope'.
You begin to realise how his upbringing has made him the man he is today; his passion, zeal for life and personality.
I've began 'London' by Edward Rutherfurd.
Re: What are you reading?
Just finished reading Aab-e Hayaat by Molana Azad, and The Authentic Gospel of Jesus by Geza Vermes.
(Re-)reading of the Masnavi is next ;)
Re: What are you reading?
I am reading The Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R.TOLKIEN
Re: What are you reading?
Beneath My Mother's Feet.............was a really good book. Simply written yet strong. It's about a lower middle class family that lives in Karachi. The daughter, 15-year-old Nazia, is the main character. Her parents have been saving up for her dowry for years. But then they lose it. And several tragedies take place that put the family in financial crisis. Nazia's simple life as she knows it comes to an end. And in the process of supporting her mother.........she learns some painful truths about her family members whom she used to adamantly defend and hold in high regard.
**
Ten Questions*.......is the book that **Slumdog Millionaire* is based on. There are some major differences between the book and the movie. While I enjoyed the movie........so far........I REALLY like the book as well. It's a simple read that captures and maintains your attention.
